Yukon territory will exhibit at the Louisiana Purchase exposition a comprehensive display of horticultural and agricultur-exhibi- ts raised in the upper Yukon alley, almost within the arctic circle. Specimens of Klondike placer gold and rich Yukon quartz will be shown. The residents of Yukon territory, however, expect to make a hit with an exhibit of flowers, fruits, shrubs, grains and vegetables which for size and adapta bility for human wants in richness and flavor will vie with almost any similar exhibit from the more favored Mississippi valley. The plan for making such an exhibit resulted from a highly successful fair held at Dawson In September by the Yukon Horticultural society, which Is now asking the Ottawa government to reserve spare for the proposed display in the Canadian section at St. Louis. The Horticultural aoclety has started out to raise $50,000, a larger sum than will be expended by some states and territories. The exhibit will Include Yukon woods, coal, the complete skeleton of a mammoth, prehistoric bones and an Indian collection. 1- -3 to 50 PER CENT OFF ALL SUITS AND DEVIL WORSHIP. 8aid That It Has Bean Startling but in Modified Revived in Form FIRST NATIONAL BANK. 2384 Washington Avs. The recent revelations in connection with the revival of devil worship and the fantastic practices of the Black Mass have created no little sensation In Paris. The superstition has continued to linger persistently in France from the Middle Ages down to now. How many of us are aware that the original of Blue Beard was one of the most Infamous devotees of the cult? Among the bravest leaders of the French arm les during the closing stages of the hundred years' war was Giles de Laval, Baron de Rets, whose career has at forded Mr. Crockett material for one of his tales and whose sanguinary reputation has awed generations of children. In company with the famous Junois. De Rets helped to rescue Orleans and the heroic Joan, and was at the early age of 25 created a marshal by his sovereign. When, however, he retired to his vast estates In Brittany he gave himself up to dissipation and the study of magic. Mystic rites, involving human sacrifices, were carried on In his castles, in one of which were ultimately found the bones of fifty victims. When, after a fiendish career of fourteen years, De Retz was arrested and tried, he broke down and confessed his crimes, while the audience shuddered at the recital. He was executed more than 40 years ago but the terrible story of Barbe Bleue still lingers as a weird legend among the Breton peas- ants.
