The accident resulted from an explosion of a misfired hole con. taiuiug from 7 to 11 sticks of giant powder, which was unknowingly drilled into by Mr. Pulver, aud whether this misfired hole waa known to have been there is a thing that remains unexplained. The accident occurred at the bottom of the vertical shaft 520 feet deep, aud immediately after the report reached the surface the fon man of the mine went to the bottom and removed Mr. Harriman and the remains of the dead tuau to the tope J ustice Goodrich of Mammoth was notified of the affair. He immediately summoned a jury aud viewed the remains of the Lt- eras they layiu the thafl bouse of the miue, after whi h they were taken to Eureka and placed in the undertaker's office aud prepared for shipment to this city, arriving here on the afternoon train Tuesday over the Rio Grande Western.
