Basket socials were given at each of the ward meeting houses last Monday evening by the Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Associations, which proved successful in every respect. . The young ladies baskets were artistically adorned and filled with lunch. At the First ward the names of the owners of the baskets were written on slips of paper and pat in the hat; the boys paid 15 cents and drew a name which entitled him to a basket and lnnch and a partner to help eat the lnnch. Ice cream and chooolate were also on sale which added considerable to the amount realized from the sale of baskets. At the Second ward the baskets were pat up at auction, W. J. Douglass being the auctioneer. Bids came slow at first bnt they finally waxed warm, and one yonng man paid $1.50 for a basket and then didnt get the yonng lady he wanted.
