The game was admirably handled by Referee Rees, who had to travel some to keep up with the fast pace of the game, but was always in control of the players, rendering the decision immediately of sending off the Held when the two players mentioned the bounds of the soccer code. Fighting desperately every minute, the losing Copper eleven kept the Ogden boys on their toes throughout the game, and oldtimers who witnessed the contest declare that the game was one of the most hotly contested in the annals of soccerdom here. The Ogdenites replace the Caledonians as state title holders. Four of the players pictured above were members of the Ogden team which won the title in 1921. They are Captain Liptrot, Dransfield, Smith and De Free. Liptrot was also captain of the 1921 team. In the group above are: Back row, left to right. Bill Udink, Billy Lunch, Stanley Smith, Cy Parsons, Hank De Free and Baptist. Front row, Herbert Dransfield, Alec Shearer, Jack Lynch, George Quick, Ed Nellestein and Ossie Liptrot. It was a well played contest and remarkable in .his day and age for the lack of dekering with the umpire that has become so much the usual part of a base-m- il game. Good pitching was furnished by Snyder of the locals. lie allowed but hree scattered hits in the five innings te was on the slab. Had his fielding esfi as good as his pitching, the three runs recorded the North Ogdcnites would never have been registered. He ropped an easy roller that should lave resulted in a double play and the retiring of the side. Later Both runners scored on a single by Berritt. Balantyne made three beautiful catches in center field, but went hit-lethroughout the entire game. Vaughn played his usual snappy game on short. He can play any position on a team and is good at all of them. Van Drielen was in the game for the first time this year, replacing Beachn first at the end of the third inning. vIIe played a steady game and had a wonderfully steadying effect on the entire team. Most of the worry of getting his team organized and financed has passed away with the barbers of Ogden agreeing to furnish balls for his team for the season.
