He was a young man of great ability; and in the various public positions that he has held during his short span of life, he manifested those attributes of mind and character which finally led to his appointment to the important position of United States marshall. In all his public activities, he was honest, fearless, and efficient, and so endeared himself to the people of the state of Utah, that it was contemplated that he would receive the support of many for the governorship of the state, for which office he waa an aspirant at the time of his death. It is indeed regretable that the brilliant public career of this young man should by accident be suddenly and unexpectedly ended. RESOLVED, therefore, that the board of commissioners of Ogden City, and its members, express their appreciation of his worth and efficient service in behalf of the people of Utah and the nation at large, as well as their deepest sympathy to the surviving members of his family in their bereavement, and that this memorial be spread upon the minutes of the board and a copy thereof forwarded to his widow.
