Large crowds of extras were used, and as much trouble was r'vcn to the costumes of those people is v;as spent on the attire of the chief characters. Although the note of the show is pure comedy, there is an extremely logical story running throughout which is intensely human and packed with a tense drama which gives zest to the numerous laughs. George Sidney in the role of Ilyman Cohen gives tho greatest performance of his long career. Never before has the great comedian put so much heart appeal into his work. Never before have tho smiles been so spontaneous and the laughs so free from forced gags. The titles are also very humorous and do much to uphold the pace of the show. Such i.he A starkly reulistie story of the sea out of the pages of the distant past is to be seen on the screen on the Egyptian theatre starting Sunday, where "Tlie Blood Ship, a Columbia production, is the featured attraction. It tells a tale of the days when the clipper ship plied the sevensens and steam vessels were unknown. This was a time when only a real d man eould follow the sea for a living. The captains of many of these "greyhounds of the ocean were brutes incarnate. Such a one is featured in the film, and his maniacal treatment of the crew (poor brutes who were slianghailed aboard in the dead of night) is vividly realistic. So much so, that when in the end he is thrashed to death in a thrilling fight to the finish, there is a sigh of satisfaction from the audience. Many of the scenes in this melodrama are not pretty to look at, but two-fiste- Hu y hold or. a spellbound nevertheless. Hobart Rusworlh is the featured star with Jacqueline Irogan and Richard Arlen. The two latter carry the love Intercut. Others in the cast are Walter Janies, F. Kohler, iarge Arthur Rankin and James Bradbury, Sr. The lilot.-dc- characterisation is remarkable and has the stamp of authenticity. None of the sequences are forced, the whole uroeeodlng along to a thrilling and logical climax. All in all, The Blood Ship can be checked off as one of the pictures worth while seeing. It is good entertainment, albeit somewhat strong."
