Hot .logs and watermelons and other refreshments were sold, and a small charge was made for the dancing, the proceeds for whfeh went to the band. Despite the chilly evening, n large crowd enjoyed a very good time. The Hooper school house is Wing thoroughly cleaned und renovuted by the Janitor, Mr. Cottle, prepatory to the commencement of school. Practically a full corps of teachers has been secured. Mrs. Janet Child, who fell and broke her hip several weeks ago, is still in a serious condition. Frank Williams of Mount Ogden stake will preside at the conference which will open Saturday evening at 8 oclock. Sunday there will be separate stake board meetings, conference of ward workers and departmental sessions. General assemblies will be held in the afternoon with Superintendents C. Angus Wright, A. D. Brown and Joseph E. Wright conducting. Ward workers from the 38 wards in Ogden and Weber county have a conference! acheduli'd for 1 1 oclock Sunday morning. M. The request of the Eighth ward offi rials represented by Bishop Joseph F. Barker for city aid in paying the paving tax for the plot of ground surrounded by Sixth and Seventh streets and Ogden and Adams avenue, has been referred to the city attorney at the request of the city rommisioners, who have had the matter under advisement for some time. The Eighth ward, representing the L. D. S. church has established a public playground on the property and inasmuch as it is open to Ogden children, feel that the city should aid them, officials state.
