Show BEWITCHED BY A JUGGLER. tu Hla In u Practiced Art Indin. A correspondent of Scottish Nights, rriting from India regarding the theo-- y that the Jugglers perform their tricks y "will power, says: "During the jourse of the Indian mutiny I made the tcquaintance of one of these gentlemen it India, who tried to instruct me how M perform these tricks. He said it eras all imaginary on the part of the ipectators, as he simply willed that they should see these things. The moBt exciting performance that he gave for my amusement was the converting cf a bamboo stick into a native servant, who waited at table and supplied our wants. Afterward in his absence 1 tried It on and to my surprise the same man was before me asking for instructions. I directed him to fill the that-tie- s in the veranda with water from the well in the compound. This he proceeded to do. When he had filled them all to overflowing I requested him to stop. He, however, took no notice of me and went on stolidly bringing 'n the water, until, in my excited imagination, it seemed that the bungalow would be washed away. Finding that I could not arrest or stop his movements, he passing through me as though I did not exist.I drew my sword and lay in wait for him. Making a slash, I apparently cut him in twain, when, lo! there were two men bringing in the water, neither of whom I could restrain or prevent from doing so. I was completely out of my depth, when I heard a quiet laugh behind me, and on turning I found it was my Instructor, who held up his right hand and the two men disappeared, the stick resuming its place in the veranda, and, to crown all, there was not the slightest sign of any water having been brought in. I excitedly appealed to him for an explanation. He said that he had been (resent all the time, having willed that he should be invisible to me, and that I should imagine myself to see and do what I thought had taken place. Tn order to prove it, he asked me to step out into the compound and directed my attention to a huge cavern, which I knew was not there before As 1 entered a number of huge elephant! and camels issued from it in a continuous stream, yet I could not touch ont of them. They apparently passed ovei me as though I did not exist H again raised bis hand and the caverr and animals disappeared and there wa no indiction of an exodus of any kind tricks of DISLIKED BLOOMERS. This was amusingly Illustrated on Clapham road, where in the morning a collision took place between a performing bear and a ladj on a bike. Bruin was trudging along the road quietly following the booh in his nose to which his master had attached a chain, and allowed to past without observation several women wearing the orthodox skirts on bicycle! or tricycles without opening his mouth or wagging his tall. At last, not fai from ICennington church, a corpulent lady in bloomers came Blowly wheeling along, and the moment she came within range of the bears vision, he suddenly snarled, jerked the chain out ol his keepers hand and made for thf blcycll8te. With his head he butted the machine, which, with the lady on it, fell over and on himself, to the great amusement of a large number of spectators, who laughed heartily at the mixture of Bruin and the bloomers. Thf keeper promptly ran after his charge and rescued him from underneath thf frightened wheelwoman, who shrieked H much, but was not wounded. in animal off the captivity marched once more, while the lady summoned I put the damaged blcyclf on the top and drove off Inside.
