Malone grabbed the rebound. His pass out to Stockton was nearly stolen bv Man Maloney, but he did eventually clear the ball outside. The Jazz regained possession with approximately 30 seconds to go with Stockton holding the ball until the shot clock had nearly expired. Stockton then passed the ball to Jeff Hornacek who penetrated the lane and bounced the ball to Russell alone in the comer along the sideline. Russell launched the shot which struck the iron at the back of the rim and bounded across to Barkley who called time out with 6.7 seconds left in the game. Johnson Following the time-ou- t, inbounded the ball to Maloney who passed first to Clyde Drexler who, in turn, fought through a Jazz double team to clear the ball on the angle back to Maloney who passed it on to Johnson for the last gasp shot. Following the loss, Utah coach Jerry Sloan tried to focus not on the lost opportunity in Game Four, but looked ahead to Tuesday night's game at the Delta Center. We didnt get any breaks in this game, but you don't play games in reverse. I dont think officials win ed one of the fasiest-sellinand may be one of the fastest-movinvessels on the water. A few models are capable of speeds approaching 60 miles per hour. And more Americans are tiding this popular and relatively new vessel. What is it? Its a personal watercraft (PWC). Because of their affordability and popularity, the personal watercraft industry estimates that there will be nearly 800,000 PWCs taking to the waterways this year. U.S. Coast Guard statistics show that accidents involving PWCs have increased in direct proportion to the amount of growth in personal watercraft numbers. Eight out of ten PWC accidents that occur involve a collision with another vessel. The high percentage of collision accidents indicates operator error is high, thus its the skill of the driver that were concerned about, said Rear Admiral James D. Hull of the U.S. Coast Guard. Hull also noted that secondary users, family, friends and renters are in the high-risgroup. Utah outscored the Rockets in the first period, but it was 31-- 18 all downhill from there. The Rockets outscored the Jazz by 13. 8 and points through the final 10 three periods to win easily. It was easy for Sloan to blame the loss on poor defense by the Jazz. Houston shot nearly 59 percent from the Field and controlled the rebounds, points in the paint and fast break points as theyd been unable to do in the first two games. Johnson's 31 points were nearly matched by Olajuwon, who had 27. His scoring has been up against the Jazz compared to his average in the first two rounds of the playoffs when Houston defeated Minnesota and Seattle. Greg Ostertag made his presence felt with 15 points and nine rebounds, but the Rocket's reserves, led by bench Johnson, outscored Utah's 47-2- 8. Conference Finals Schedule: Game 5, Tuesday, Rockets Jazz , 7 p.m.; Game 6, Thursday, Jazz & Rockets, 7 p.m.; Game 7, Jazz. Saturday, Rockets Series notes: Sundays loss marked the first time since January the Jazz had lost back-to-bac- k games. The Jazz have yet to win a playoff game in June. They are 1 in June games. Theyll have to win two more games in May to get a chance to play in June. 0-- Campaign through a grant administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. Riders need to realize that a personal watercraft is a boat, but handles differently than conventional watercraft. Operators should learn and practice safe operation." The U.S. Coast Guard and the National Safety Council offer these tips to personal watercraft riders: Remember that a PWC is jet propelled. That means if the throttle is released the vessel will lose most of its maneuverability. This is especially important when you are near other boats, docks or other obstacles. Take a safe boating class. Do not jump the wake of other boats. Always wear your lifejacket. Learn speed and proximity rules. Keep your distance. Remember that a PWC is small and other boaters may not see you. Stay alert and remember to look in all directions before making any turns. Check your local laws. Some states have age limits, life jacket requirements and other regulations. Remember a PWC is a boat. Obey all boating laws. Locations where smiles and fish are sure to mix June 7 will be Fairmont Park in Salt Lake City, and Wasatch State Park near Midway, where children will have a chance to catch trout planted in ponds at the parks, using skills learned that day in Division-sponsore- d Pathways To Fishing programs. The Division will host Pathways To Fishing programs at Fairmont Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park is located at 2245 S. McClelland (1040 E.), just west of Sugarhouse Anglers Inn store. Pathways To Fishing programs at Wasatch Mountain State will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 The park is located two miles of Midway. The Pathways To Fishing Blake Russon and Ryan Smith are two exceptional athletes and excellent students currently participating on the track team at Bountiful High School. Blake excels in the pole vault and Ryan is quite accomplished in the javelin throw. Both are juniors and have demonstrated that they are a cut above the rest in every competition available to them this year. Blakes record speaks for itself. He placed first in the pole vault at the Region 2 track and field meet with a winning jump of 503. The vault was higher than the winning mark at the state meet. This is an outstanding vault that was just I inch short of the region record and 1 pro- gram, which teaches children 538-471- 466-392- Participants will not need to preregister for the Wasatch Mountain State Park program. We, as their coaches, are encouraging you to consider sponsoring these young men financially so they may attend this track meet at the end of May. Any contribution would be appreciated. All donations would be cycled through the school to provide a legal tax benefit for you or your company. Thank you for your consideration. Last summer, Ryan competed in the Junior Nationals and placed second in the nation in his age group. Since then, he has received many inquiries from colleges across the nation hoping to entice him to consider their programs. Ryan won the state championship in the javelin with a personal best toss of 201 feet.
