In addition two complete surgical theaters were delivered for a hospital in Sarejevo along with much needed farm equipment, seed and the necessary goods to rebuild and equip a school in Ravanska. One of the reasons the group is so successful is that the majority of the volunteers who go with the convoys are women and pose no threat to any of the warring factions in Bosnia. Olson has been the DARE officer since the program began in 1991. Over the past four years, he has taught more than 4,000 elementary and junior high school stu- dents, helping them complete requirements for graduation from the national program. Davis County Sheriff Rob Davis recognized Olson for the countless hours he spends outside his regular work day to improve and build the DARE program and other activities geared to helping keep kids out of trouble. It is impressive to see how kids take to Deputy Olson, Davis said. Im particularly impressed with his ability to connect with kids. He is certainly an asset to the department and great resource for families in Davis County. Awards were also given to others for their outstanding performance and dedication.
