Show Bassarear attends International Youth Forum with students Soroptimist International of the Americas, part of the world's largest service organization for executive and Women, hosted its professional international Youth Forum Jan 0 in Berkeley Springs, W. Va. The event was attended by 54 students from nine high school-ag- e countries. Attending as a silent 26-3- observer was Rocky Mountain Region youth forum chairwoman, Jennifer Bassarear, Bountiful. She traveled with the two students selected to attend from the regional youth forum held last June at Sherwood Rhyme & Reason When love is mine I'll write a valentine Until then A tale of love Ill spin: He came as dashing as any knight Instantly I knew that he was right I threw the rope and pulled it Hills: April Churchill of Smithfield and Stephanie Weaver, Laramie, Wyo. SIA sponsors the youth forum as part of its commitment to young people. It provides an opportunity for young people to convene in a structured program to share experiences; leam about different facets of society and discuss issues and possible solutions to the challenges facing modern world society. It was one of the most rejuvenating experiences Ive had since I left teaching, said Bassarear. It restores my faith in the children as our future, and it was wonderful to see the cultural exchange going on between the students. One day included a sightseeing trip to Washington, D C. and a tour of the new Holocaust Museum. The next day the kids were able to share their feelings about the Holocaust Museum and I was truly touched by their deep feelings and comments. Its something everyone should experience.
