Here now, a quick preview. AFC EAST 1. Miami Dolphins: Legendary coach Don Shula needs just seven wins to pass George Halas on all-tilist. With Dan Marino and a rising defense, no problem. Prediction: 12-- 4. 2. Buffalo Bills: The talent is still there for the Bills to make an unprecedented fourth consecutive Super Bowl trip. But really, now, does anyone have the stomach to go through another Sunday like that? Prediction: BOUNTIFUL B3 Tuesday, September 7, 1993 11-- 5. Hayes, Rosemary Bearnson, Manager Chesley Erickson. Not Pictured: Holly Zollinger. Blitz enjoy Preview NFL AFC WEST 1. Started San Diego Chargers: a year ago and still up in the divisional playoffs. This season, thanks to a dynamite defense they could be even better. Prediction: 11-0-- 4 wound 5. Kansas 2. Chiefs: City K.C.'s "D" is every bit as good as the Chargers but the question is, Can Joe Montana stay healthy? Denver Broncos: John Elway is elated now that Dar Reeves has relocated to New York, but his Three Amigos receiving corps have all said Adios and the "D" is suspect. Prediction: BLITZ: (Front Row) Angle Christiansen, Sarah Moore, Heather Pistorlus, Chantelle Cox, Jill Bearnson, Melanie Sorenson. (Back Row) Robyn Lewis, Rhyan Hayes, Steffanle Schuh, Casey Erickson, Kristi 4. Cincinnati Bengals: QB David Klinglcr will emerge this year as a standout. NFL signal-calle- r, but the Bengals are bound for last. Prediction: L.A. Raiders: Rocket Ismail joins fellow Notre Dame alum Tim Brown to form a d duo, but there are serious questions at quarterback and running back. Prediction: 5. Seattle Seahawks: Rebuilding with Rick Mirer and stud lineman Cortez Kennedy is wise but this season the Seahawks brand of football will leave fans sleepy in Seattle. Prediction: NFC EAST fleet-foote- The Blitz, Amateur Softball Association girls team, has completed its 1993 season. This is the third and most successful year for the team. After two seasons of developing and recruiting players and raising the needed funds, the Blitz was able to play at a competitive level with teams from the western United States. The Blitz participates in most A.S.A. sanctioned tournaments in Utah as well as the Utah Summer Games. This year the team played in the Utah A.S.A. state tournament and qualified for regional A.S.A. competition. Blitz players are almost exclusively recruited from Davis County area high schools and junior highs. This years team featured honorees Jill and Rosemary Bearnson from Woods Cross, and Bountiful standouts Casey Erickson, Heather Pistorius and Chantelle Cox. The 1993 campaign marked the pitching debut of Millcreek Junior High standout Melanie Sorensen. Although just d with many of Utahs top pitchers 15, Sorensen went and many highly-recruitcollege prospects. The high point was two wins over the No. 3 team in the state, Tremontons Sage. The Sage won the Utah Summer Games and Brigham City tournaments. The offensive punch for the Blitz was provided by first basemen Casey Erickson. The 1993 Bountiful High graduate led the team in batting with a ,495 average. She also led the squad in RBIs. Robyn Lewis from Highland, Rosemary Bearnson and Kristi Hayes were also sparks for the team. Hayes was injured during the high school season, but recovered and posted a superb summer season at shortstop. Other Blitz players leading the team to its most successful season were catcher Angie Christiansen, infielders Holly Zollinger and Sarah Moore, as well as outfielders Steffanie Schuh and Rhyan Hayes. Hayes, from Viewmont, also pitched for the team. The Blitz is managed by Chesley Erickson of Bountiful. He has managed the team since its inception in 1991 and prior to that guided the Bountiful Bonnett Ball to a state championship in 1990. The 1994 edition of the Blitz is currently being assembled. Tryouts for the team will be held Friday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. at the 400 8 are encouraged to North diamond in Bountiful. Girls ages participate.
