South Davis Fire District officials reported. y An firefighter spotted the fiames at 6:30 p.m., in some brush cast of a Centerville reservoir about 2000 North. South Davis, off-dut- Bountiful and Farmington firefighters rushed to contain the but were forced to hike the steep mountain slope to the site of the fire. There was a road leading almost directly to the fire. But it was too steep and poorly maintained for fire trucks to negotiate, said Capt. Paul blac, Smoke from a 5 acre brush fire in the mountains above Centerville could be seen for miles Monday evening. South Davis Fire investigators believe the blaze started when a cooking fire was left unattended. district Richards, T rolley CONTINUED FROM PG. 1 "I know and understand the bus must stop somewhere, he said, but added the city must take into consideration the interests of business. Forbush has met with UTA officials, who have agreed to park the trolley and pick up and deliver riders across the street from Bowmans Bestway in 1994. But UTA officials are reluctant to change the stop at Security Title this year because the trolley has been advertised to be at that location. The Lagoon shuttles present route takes riders from the amusement park to downtown Farmington via Lagoon Drive and State Street. The trolley turns left on 100 West and right on 100 North, before entering Main Street and parking in Flag CONTINUED FROM PG. 1 and fire stations. One of the drawbacks to the citys initial alternative is that the trolley would have to make a left turn onto 100 East from a dangerous front of Security Title. From there, the shuttle travels on State, turns right on Lagoon Drive and follows the road back to Lagoon. As a temporary solution to ease petitioners safety concerns until a intersection where State five-wa- y permanent route is worked out, Farmington was set to propose an alternate route that would bypass 100 West and the small segment of 100 N. east of Main Street. The alternative calls for the trolley to turn around for the return trip to Lagoon by turning north on 100 East from State Street, then west on 100 North to Main Street. The bus would turn left on Main to the fourway stop at State Street, head west on Slate, and then north on Lagoon Drive back to Lagoon. At Wednesdays council meet-- , ing, however. Councilman Hank Semadeni sided with petitioners in wanting more. He proposed a circuitous route that would have the trolley leave the park and travel north on Lagoon Drive to Burke Lane, head east on Burke to Main Street, and then south on Main (State Road 106) to State Street. Passengers would be picked up and delivered at First Security Bank. From there, the bus would travel back to Lagoon using the same route as before. advantages, Semadeni explained, would be the trolley The would only make right hand turns Street joins with Highway 106. Noting the city had paid $2,000 for the service, Semadeni called for sending the UTA a directive demanding the route be changed. Hey, this is our city, he said. The council seemed set to go along but was unsure what UTAs response would be. Forbush said he had sug- gested the route proposed fallback position.
