Disease still spreading through day care centers Young children are particularly vulnerable to the spread of this s. disease since they are poor Toddlers who have yet to be potty trained are particularly notorious for the spread of giardia since the parasite abounds in the stools. An intestinal diarrhea caused by a once uncommon parasite is becoming more prevalent by hand-washer- spreading through day care centers. The unexpected rise in giardiasis was studied by physicians from Baylor College of Medicine. This disease was once spread primarily through contaminated lakes and mountain streams, they noted. However, the rise in the number of children in day care centers has led to a jump in the incidence of the disease. Preschoolers in close contact with each other have become the main source of spread. Giardiasis was one of a number of illnesses that researchers have found increasing in day care centers. Upper respiratory infections, ear infections, other diarrheas, hepatitis, pneumonia, and meningitis are all more frequent in children cared for in day care centers. pre-scho- ol Large Selections on CARPET REMNANTS Variety of sizes and colors PECIAL PRICES!
