Show Carbon High School athletes honored By LARRY JARAMILLO Sports Writer Carbon High School capped off its sports program for the year Tuesday night with an Athletic Awards Night in honor of Carbons athletes. The various awards were presented to the Dino athletes by nine coaches. Carbon High principal Eugene Crocco opened the nights agenda with a welcoming address and ended the evening in naming Barry Woodruff and Jeri Muse as the Carbon High male and female athletes of the year, respectively. He then opened the presentations with a Jackson Jewkes Memorial Award. Senior, Tracy Magann was given this award in remembrance of the former Carbon physical education coach. Football coach Jerry Dyer gave out four awards for the 1979 football season. Frank Howa was named as the Outstanding Offensive Player. Defensive honors went to Steve Radar. The coveted Martin Bezyack Memorial Award went to Troy Miller and Scott Nielsen captured the Most Valuable player honor. Cross Country awards were given by Coach Foster Lott. The Cunningham also presented four tracksters with the Most Outstanding Track and Field Award and the Bill Coltrin Memorial Award. Mike Potts, Doug Perry, John Powell, and Jack McKinnon all shared in the MVP honors while Potts and Perry were awarded the memorial in co - positions.
