EXPERTS ' Using the latest 151 ; ' YOUR AUTHORIZED by wait borla example is the Point After business in Helper and its operator, Jim Lupo. The Point After sponsored not one, but two entries in the meet. Both of them won trophies for Mr. Lupo, but the real story came at the conclusion of the meet Saturday night. All the players of the two teams in the final game, Point After Logan and Adela, as well as the players of the regular Point After team that won the Helper rec. title, were invited to a steak dinner, spaghetti and lasagna to go with it, cooked by Jims mother and father at the Point After after the game. Mr. Lupo also provided rooms for those players from out of town who cared to stay over during the tournament. One of the players off the Adela team came up to me and said, You know Utah is a basketball state and there are an awful lot of good players and teams in the Wasatch Front area. If they only knew just what kind of hospitality they receive here in Carbon County during this tournament, you wouldnt be able to handle all the teams wanting to come here. Our only hope is that these fine young men take back the message to the Wasatch Front that Helper and Carbon County is not an enclave of sinful people defying the law and that the Attorney General is wasting the taxpayers money with his investigation of Carbon County, The Jaycees can be thankful that young Jim Lupo is taking his place among the other fine men of the county who stand ready to back the sporting events of our Local basketball fans watching the NCAA final game on TV Monday night and entertaining hopes of being on hand when this same event takes place in the Special Events Center at the University of Utah next spring had better mark Monday, April 3, on their calendar. Thats this coming Monday, April 3, 1978, even though the tournament is one year away. A limited number of tickets are going to be allotted to the general public through a drawing to be conducted from applicants who mail in orders for two or four tickets. The order must be postmarked on April 3 and contain a money order or cashiers check for the full cost of the tickets, $60.00 for two or $120.00 for four. The raffle, so to speak, has been cleared with the Salt Lake County Attorneys office and the chances of getting any tickets are predicted to be slim at best. The odds, of course, will be determined by the number of applicants, but it is not expected to be any better than one in ten. Applications bearing a postmark prior to April 3 will not be considered and returned to the sender. The drawing will not take place for at least two weeks after the Monday deadline and those not drawing out will have their money orders or checks returned shortly after the drawing. The orders should be sent to the post office box in Salt Lake City specified for the purpose and they must bear the April 3 postmark, -- sssss The invitational basketball tournament, put on in Helper annually and sponsored by the Helper Jaycees for the past two years, requires considerable time and effort not only on the part of the sponsoring organization, but from a good many outsiders in the county interested in such an event. Strong backers through the years have been A1 Veltri of Veltri Drug, Jack Leonard of Jacks Shoes in Price, the late Matt Star, Chuck Ghirardelli, Coach Curt Jenson of CEU and the area high school coaches, the many officials who have refereed games in past years. The tournament this year was no exception, in fact outstanding from the point of community support.
