Show ?! The Salma Sun r, 2 ! - Vi & 3 a Si5 bi: r- -i Thursday, May Have you ever wanted to lose weight or stop smoking but something inside just wouldnt let you? Cliff Webb of Provo may have an answer. Webbs program attempts to change that something inside. He does it through hypnosis. Through a process he calls Mental Mirror, Webb helps his patients think more highly of themselves not only on the surface, but subcon-dousl- y where, he says, it really matters. He says self image and self confidence are the most important aspects in weight loss because an individual must feel good about himself before he can look good. Webb is going to give people in the North Sevier area a chance to try his theories out this Saturday. He will hold a seminar on weight control at the Best Western Motel, 60 N. State in Salina at 9:30 a.m. Another seminar will be held in ! Ephraim at the City Building this Friday evening at 7 p.m. Psychologists believe negative comments slowly decay an individuals self esteem. One study, Webb points out, shows that it takes 12 positive comments to erase one negative one. If this study is It is no accurate, Webb says, marvel that there are so many people with no self confidence. Who can truthfully say he has had 12 compliments per insult in his life?" Webb, who operates Personal Success Institute in Provo, uses this theory in hypnosis. Because the subconscious mind is so powerful, he uses hypnosis to build up his clients self image. In this sense, poor self esteem can be replaced by self confidence using this simple process, he says. Webb says he feels his greatest success lies with his weight loss program, although he has also helped people in other areas of their lives. He has helped Billy Caspar improve his professional golf game, and Jim McMahon improve his football abilities. Overweight individuals generally have the desire to lose weight, he explained. But they cannot perceive themselves as thin. This may be due to the fact that most people start dozens of diets before they actually lose weight. Once a person has failed at a diet, it is much harder to try to diet again. Individuals begin to accept their perceived inevitable failure, and to feel that they have no willpower and are destined to be overweight. Once they can visualize themselves thin, it is remarkably easy. The hypnotist uses a slimming mirror that aids the image changing process. It is a unique mirror that adjusts to a persons height. Clients can virtually dial themselves thin just by turning a knob. We show the clients the thin mirrored image of themselves under hypnosis to accentuate the positive, thin image we are trying to create. Webb does not espouse or put down any of the popular diets being One Day FRIDAY, May 20Meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, sliced beets, peach cobbler, bread, butter, milk or juice. U 1111 To Honor All of Hypnotism Used to Assist People in Weight Control got their wires Somebodys crossed! This IS May, isnt it? Spring has been unsuccessfully trying to tiptoe around the valley for weeks. Where are the bluebirds, meadowlarks and bumblebees that are supposed to welcome a warm Spring morning? Even the dandelions are reluctant to show their true colors. Farmers would give more than a plug nickle to get at the long overdue Spring work. I awoke this morning to an especially depressing predawn spectacle. On the way to work, rain splattered blatantly against the already soggy landscape. Yet, as we began the climb to the mine, the muddy mess was suddenly transformed into a dazzling world of white. Every branch on every tree was heavy with new fallen snow. Pines . and junipers bent low under the weight of the heavy load. Aspen and Birch were delicately dusted with a gentle coating of silver. Resident deer who usually greet us with wide-eye- d nonchalance were nowhere to be seen hidden away to wait out the winter storm. It was beautiful all right... but were less than a month away from Summers official entry, and then well be on the downward side of Winter again. Hope Ma Nature gets her act together before long. Just one more week and school bells will be silenced. Seems like this past year has flown by even faster than usual. Wasnt it just yesterday that Junior set off for his first day of school? Now graduation looms. Its a great time, but one of mixed emotions. For the most part the youngsters are enthusiastic. They are confident that there is nothing in this old world that they cant conquer. Nothing is too big for them to handle. Nothing can get them down and thankfully so, for without youths exuberance this world would be in a sorry mess. Moms and Dads are proud of their and childens accomplishments tasks well done. Theyre thankful for the new challenges and opportunities that are yet to come. But its all tempered by tugs on the heartstrings as the loved one prepares to set out on his own. Its never easy to let go. A frfrtf 19, 1963 7.97 Leather-boun- stainless-stee- LB14Creei. Our Reg. 3.97 Tough Leather Harness Harness for LB14 creel. l blade, wooden handle.
