Show Ellise Hatch Crowned New Miss North Sevier Ellise Hatch was chosen Miss North Sevier by judges at last Saturdays Miss North Sevier Scholarship Pageant at the NSHS auditorium in Salina. Ellise is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Hatch, Salina and the second in their family to be named Miss North Sevier. Another daughter, Katherine, was crowned Miss N.S. in 1967. Selected as first runnerup to Miss Hatch was Jeri Marshall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Ross Marshall, Salina. Second runnerup was Karen Colby, daughter of Mr.and Gerald Colby, Salina. I The pageant contestants elected Jill Reynolds as this years Miss Congeniality. Jill is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reynolds, Salina. ri fi Miss N.S . Miss Colby played Rustles in Springs and Miss Hatch played Paderewskis Minuet in G. The pageant was produced by the North Jayceettes and Sevier directed by Peggy Mason, Aurora. The masters of ceremonies were Kent and Genie Nielsen, Aurora. Queen Ellise will be a contestant in the 1984 Miss Utah contest by virtue of her being selected queen at this years Miss N.S. contest. Last years queen, Vicky Hales, Aurora, performed a drill dance as her last performance as queen and made her final walk on the NSHS stage. She will represent the area in the 1983 Miss Utah Pageant in the summer. PRICE 25c NSHS Architect Denies OKing Floor Change from Roy Silver, architect of the North Sevier high School, told the Sevier School District Board of Education had the change approved Silvers office. that his office gave no approval to changing the specifications concerning the stage floor at the schools auditorium. He said the installer said anchors can be used to anchor sets for dramatic productions even though the floor cannot be nailed into without destroying it. He also said softwood needs more maintenance. The specifications called for a softwood floor behind the apron. When the floor was laid, however, the contractors laying it refused to stop laying hardwood, even though,' according to NSHS Drama Director Don Flora, the workmen were told what the specifications said. Business manager Sam Ware said his research of the softwood-hardwoo- d controversy found that softwood was preferred for the behind the apron area of stages He said North Sanpete and North Summit both have softwood floors. 7-- 2. Also participating in the spelling bee were Melissa Bagley, Koosharem Elementary; Corry Cloward, Salina Elementary; Mark Greenwood, Pahvant Elementary; Amy Madden, Monroe Middle School; Joelle Julander, Monroe Elementary and Darcy Olsen, Ash- district. Second place was Richfield Junior High Schools Lexa Larsen. Stacie won when Dexft could not spell carpentry Stacie then spelled' Lexas word correctly and carhop to win the bee. Stacie now will travel to Salt Lake City on April 15 to compete in the state spelling bee sponsored by 1 man Elementary. The moderator was Sybil War-nocRichfield.
