Page Local News Notes Graduates From College you're soon feeling better, 1978, True - We can buy and own???? property and call it ours. But is it really? Did you know that if you owe the state money, no matter how small or large the amount, that they can sell your property at a public auction without even giving you notice? This, to me, is way too much power for a state to have. If they owe you money, you cant do anything but sit back and wait. You certainly cant take anything away from them. Did you know that if you have to appear before a city justice of the peace (heaven forbid) for a traffic citation and youve ruffled a few feathers concerning another matter, that they can fine you maximum penalty for a first offense? Never mind that what would normally be a $25 fine turns into a $299 fine. Never mind that your con- stitutional rights???? were violated on the original citation, just dont you dare try to do anything about it or the city strongmen will come down on you with all fours. We still have a better set-u- p than most countries you say? I agree, but how much longer will we have what little freedom that is left? Not long, Ill wager, unless someone, somewhere has enough brain power to come up with some answers. My faith in the Constitution is rapidly diminishing. I wish someone, somehow could reassure me that help is on the way.
