It is time, said a fired-u- p Waggoner at Tuesdays City Council meeting To help solidify Clearfield's position, in what is fast becoming a donnybrook between the two groups, the Clearfield City Council Tuesday approved a resolution agreeing to provide service to any of the smaller north Davis County cities should the sheriffs department service diminish with a loss of revenue from Clearfield. Clearfield City has no intentions of allowing residents in the surrounding cities to go without ambulance services and commits to providing that service in the event it becomes necessary, said City Manager Jack Bippes. 4 Weeks 3 Save 295-103- Of Savings! fa UA IL I CND1NG1 SAVINGS $$ 4 More Weeks! Odendahl in the Nov. 17 hearing expressed concern that those cities surrounding Clearfield could be orphaned should the city by obtaining an ambulance license put the sheriffs department in a position where it could no longer afford to provide other cities ambulance service. Sheriff Davis said without Clearfield's annual user fees of $220,000 the county could be economically impacted to where it may have to drop an ambulance from its fleet. Sheriff-eleBud Cox also is concerned about Clearfield getting into the ambulance business, saying it could create a financial hardship on the county which depends on Clearfield Citys user ct fees. But Clearfield officials arent buying the financial hardship claims and intend to prove that more ambulances are needed in the north end of the county where rapid growth is taking place. North Davis County currently has 6.75 ambulances - including four in Layton - serving a population of 126,000. South Davis County has nine ambulances serving nearly 88,000 people, according to 1998 population figures. Councilman Garr Roundy said he is disappointed in how the first public hearing turned out despite the evidence presented to Odendahl. Roundy believes it may be time for the city to call in a private firm to take the citys case before Odendahl the second time around. City Attorney Larry Waggoner said he believes the resolution will send a strong message to the state that the city is committed to providing this service. 6-MONTHS INTEREST FREE SOLID OAK BARSTOOL $3995 Available in 30" and Swivel ;2 or 776-495- Solid Oak & Plywood Construction Beveled Brass Glass Adjust Shelves Brass Hardware Fits Most 27 TVs and smaller Made in America DAYS ONLY Reg. $439.00 peso Starting at , $19995 As Shown Ottomans possi- x start at You can reach reporter Bryon 1 Saxton at standard net.
