Theres always one more thing you want or need to have. high-price- , And with Summer here, shopping will come to be more and more popular. 'Everyone loves a good deal on tlothes. I have searched far and wide, from Salt Lake City to Ogden, in search of decent clothes for decent prices. The search started at 'in Bountiful. Basically, the clothes are the you get what you "pay for" brand. Cheap cost for cheap clothes. They were cute, but some of the clothes had holes in them, makeup on them, or stains from packing. The cost was good, though -at one store where you might buy pair of Levis for $65, you can for $30. The fet them at store looked like it was a little small from the outside, but inside k was huge. The selection was fcreat and the workers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Pverall this was a great shopping Experience, but on this trip I was Jure I could do better. Next I moved to SuperTarget in Centerville (also located in , , s ; i ) ; ; : Layton and Riverdale). The store was huge but selection was not. The clothes were not too but not too low, either, although things on clearance were pretty cheap. ,Some of the things were a little trendy and some of them were left over from last year. And all the workers in their matching red confused me. As many aisles as SuperTarget has to help people in, it might have helped if they had opened more than two or three at a time. It was a clean store, though, and very convenient for the shoppers with an electronics area, kids area, and a huge grocery store entirely devoted to the left side of the building. A great store, but I could still do better in a real mall. d, I moved my search to Layton Hills Mall, where some of the better stores in Utah are located. First I went to Vanity, a trendy store. The clothes were very nice and - surprise! - you dont have to be anorexic to wear them. The salespeople were very helpful in finding matching shirts and pants. Not all the clothes were just Levis and corduroys; dress pants and dresses were also on the racks for those of us who prefer dressing up to Levis. Of course, I am not the only one who thought so. I shop at Vanity," said BJ Garrison, a senior from Bountiful High School. I like their clothes. The store was clean and sale racks were full of cool clothes. Vanity provided a great shopping experience and I recommend it to anyone looking for great sales and great prices. But again, I was sure 1 could do better. So I traveled on to a heavenly site - Journeys shoes. This is the ideal store for any shoe-love- r. Sneakers, sandals and even some combat-lookin- g boots. But in order to really enjoy this store, you must have tons of money and a real love for shoes. Prices run anywhere from $40 to almost $200 a pair. The salespeople were friendly and seemed to know a lot about the shoes they sold. The store was very small but it had a big selection. A true shoe-lovcould just die happy after entering this store. Myself, I almost had a heart attack. For your quality summer sandals, this is the place to go. Now with the greatest shoe store out of the way, I moved to my last destinations. First, Old Navy on 6th South in Salt Lake City is by far the best store for clothes, quality and cost. No matter what time of year, you can always wear their fleece sweaters or Levis anywhere. Cost is high but not too high, and no matter how busy they are, lines moved quickly and the service was friendly. The selection of clothes was varied and they also sold perfumes, socks and other accessories you would need to er complete any outfit. Now for the last store in my search for a truly great store -the Gap. Its located in Salt Lake City at ZCMI Mall, Layton Hills Mall and in Ogden City Mall. The Gap is a store with reasonably priced clothes. And when the Gap has a sale, the clothes are even better priced. The clothes are made for men and women and the selection is preppy but varied, depending on which location you are in. If you happen to drive through Park City, the Gap outlet is huge. The Gdb has many accessories to add to outfits - backpacks, small purses and hats - almost everything with the exception of shoes. These are just a few ideas to go on. There are many more stores to check out that have nice clothes and good prices such as Copper Rivet in ZCMI and Layton Hills malls, and County Seat in Crossroads and Layton Hills malls. And Jenny Larrabee of Judge Memorial High School in Salt Lake City has another suggestion: I like JJacobs because they are always having a sale, she said. Candice Hunsaker, a senior at Bountiful High School, likes writing, hiking and playing on the Internet. She says she 's the mistress of shopping at Bountiful High, from which she is graduating this week. Violence From 3 High, says, I love South Park because it shows how real little kids are, but it should only be viewed by adults, hence the TV mature rating it gets. The choice boils down to your own individual standards, but you should really consider whether you want to spend your time watching television. There are better things for you to do - homework, exercise, working, anything! TV is not the only form of media that you need to look out for. Movies are gradually getting worse in violent content, language, nudity and other questionable activities. Shows that are rated PG and PG-1- 3 today can be as explicit as rated R movies were just 20 years ago. As teenagers we need to be careful of what we watch, and if we are watching a movie that portrays an uncomfortable situation, we need to have the courage to walk out of the theater and realize that its not worth the money if it degrades our minds. Many movies are very entertaining and exciting, and music also can be uplifting and positive. But keep in mind what youre supporting, and if you buy questionable music or movies and watch turn your TV to inappropriate programs, then by doing so youre encouraging these things to be produced. The only way to take a stand is to decide for yourself what values you want to have, and then only let the media that you want in your life to affect you. The media has an affect on everyone, but we are in control. Jennifer Smith, a senior at Bonneville High School, loves to be in the outdoors and to do anything active. She also likes to play piano, sing and perform, and is considering a career in law, nutrition or travel. Music also has a greater influence on our behavior then what we sometimes think. While listening to those degrading sounds its hard to be positive and happy. There are plenty of good examples of the media out there as well, if you choose to look for it. Television keeps you up to date on whats going on in the world and televises important games and events that are interesting and informing. Thats a big one for me, because I am still plagued with attacks of arthritis. Now dont get me wrong; I dont want people to feel sorry for me. I just want teens to start appreciating what they have in ed life. Complimentary 3 Massages OFFER GOOO B3190 Our 1 0yr. Anniversary CALL TODAY!
