The one-sto- p health and fitness center is scheduled to open in LAYTON 20,000-square-fo- ot March. The response to Golds Gym,, still under interior construction at 70 Fairfield Road, Suite 13, has been good, with memberships being signed up through a temporary trailer on the construction site, he said. The construction is estimated to be finished between March and 18, followed with a grand opening celebration sometime thereafter. Izatt and his brother, Travis Izn the business. att, ! 1 After owning and operating a successful Golds Gym in Santa Maria, Calif., the Izatt brothers decided to return to their home to Ogden to start a Gold's Gym along with Austin Hernandez. Based on their previous success, the three partners decided on Lay-to- n for their next site. Darin Izatt has since moved back to the Ogden area and his brother, Travis, plans to move back to Utah also. I grew up in this area, moved to California, "and came back to visit, says Darin Izatt. Its nice to come home. The Golds Gym motto is Results for Every Body, says Izatt. - The gym will have the newest equipment in weights, life cycles, treadmills, stair climbers, and various extensive cardio equipment, i The gym also offers basketball, racquetball, hot tubs, dry saunas, tanning beds, Tae kwon do karate classes, free weights, circuit training, aerobics at all levels, and body sculpting classes. A pro shop right in the gym will carry vitamins and health gear, and even a juice bar will be added. A climbing wall is one unique piece of equipment, which gives the workout and fun of hiking. As you climb it, it rolls, says Izatt, so youre never more than 3 feet off the ground. Its also safer than it sounds, he added. A large children's day care will be separate from the workout areas, with separate rest rooms and drinking fountains so that children dont have to leave the room and be near equipment. The facility is designed with traffic flow and safety in mind, says Izatt. We're committed to not overselling the gym (memberships), says Izatt. Wer.e not going to put 5,000 people into a gym that holds only 2,000." Its one thing for people to come in and work out for two hours, but its another thing for them to come in and wait 45 minutes before they can work out, says Hernandez. For those who choose to pass up on a d workout, a women only" gym is set aside. The area is a fully functional gym for use in addition to the d gym facilities. Were no longer just the typical hard-cor- e g club of 30 years ago, says Hernandez. "The women only area is set aside so women can get a full workout without having to go into the co-e- d area if they dont wish to, he says. Aerobics director Shelly Wahls-trooffers separate aer- co-e- obics and beginner aerobics in both and beginner step low-impa- ct Aerobic classes will be held daily at 5:45, 9:15 and 10:15 a.m., and evenings at 4:30, 5:30 and 7, with an additional class on Saturdays at 8:45 a.m. Wahlstrom has 13 years experience in aerobics instruction in the Ogden area. Body sculpting is the same for all levels, with body toning achieved by using weights and your own body weight to sculpt your- body, strengthening and building endur1 : ance, says Wahlstrom. It helps the body to utilize calories more effectively. Your body bums fat more efficiently if your muscles are toned, she says. Body slides are part of the aerobic classes, as well as "tubing. Used as a type of weights, surgical rubber tubing has a effect on muscles, according to Wahlstrom. Personal trainers are there for all new members to benefit from with personal exercise plans for toning, strength or weight loss goals. Trainers will personalize a plan with a target heart rate, exercise schedule and goals. Thats probably one of the best things we have to offer - the personal training, says Hernandez. Its very important to us that everyone who comes in can use the - pulley-resistan- co-e- body-buildin- m With 30 years in the fitness industry, Golds Gym has a huge network of support, says Izatt.
