What stones l liev mould tell. While I. Ned and LAYTON Linda Iverson dont profess to have heard any good tales echo in throughout the walls of their home at 434 W, Gentile, they do give them credit for helping to teich their family some of the most important lessons of life and for affording them many chances to incorporate their personal values into their lives. The first lesson taught by their home was the value of work. Times have changed since 1916 and when the couple brought their family there to live 14 years ago. they knew they were taking on a remodeling project that would last what some would deem a lifetime. Our kids have grown up on said paint stripper and sawdust."famithe said when She Iverson. ly moved in they found layers and layers of paint, especially on all the wide window and wall moldings. "It was so thick there was no option of painting again." Iverson said. "In the kitchen there were at least nine coats of paint," she said. We had to use a heat gun to get it all olT." Many rooms had only one electrical outlet and threading wires through walls that are three bricks thick was no small task. Neither was making room for a gas line to the upstairs for heating purposes. Such tasks were compounded by the size of the home. With 4.000 square feet of space, the Iversons had an enormous remodeling task ahead of them. Iverson said she is grateful her parents, Erma and Evan Whitesides. have always been there to help with the work. The home was built with the needs of large families in mind. Its first owner. James E. Ellison, built the home with the idea of allowing each of his own seven children to have a room of their own. Its been a great place to raise a family." Iverson said. Teaching children about obedience was obviously a huge factor in the design of the house, she said. An interesting feature is that with five bedrooms upstairs, the master bedroom is right below the staircase. She said the arrangement was to deter children from sneaking in and out of the home at night. The Iversons said their home has shown them the joys of family togetherness. Three large rooms, a music room, a living room and a dining room, all come together at the entrance of the home to give the family plenty of space for gatherings of extended family, firesides and other social gatherings. "Mrs. Ellison loved to entertain." Iverson said. She said she chuckles when she recalls the story of Mrs. Ellisons own remodeling job. The home was originally built with a solid wall and a door between the music room at the entrance of the home and the living room. Mrs. Ellison had always wanted more space for entertaining but her husband wouldnt allow her to remove the wall between the two rooms. So. Iverson said, she waited until he was away on a business trip to have the work done. Only things didnt work out as planned when workers found that a pillar F-- He is the son of Lynn and Lois e Oberg of Kaysville. His wife, and two children, Cara and Kenyon, are living in California.
