Show Lakeside Review, Wednesday, Dec. 13, 1989 Students of the Month Schools and local service organizations have honored several area teens. Tyler J. Buxton was named Junior Teenager of the Month recently by the Roy Elks. He was awarded $50 and a certificate of achievement. A freshman at Sand Ridge Junior High, Tyler is vice president of his class and a member of the choir. He is a Life Scout with 27 merit badges, plays soccer, basketball and baseball. His hobbies include skiing, boating, hunting, golfing and ' f Randen is an Eagle Scout, senior patrol leader and has received recognition from the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch for scouting achievements. In leadership, he is keeper of the marquee and on the seminary council at Roy High School. He of the chamber seis lect choir and president of Royals Against Drugs. He is in the National Honor Society and some of his hobbies are aviation, singing. soccer, softball, volleyball and working on drug and alcohol abuse prevention. d M & i & '$ v 1 j?' 1 high school in her junior year and go on to college where she will major in wildlife management and minor in forestry'. Kyle Jacobs was named Student of the Month at Layton High School. He is a senior with a 4.0 gpa. Kyle is the son of Gerald and Mary Ann Jacobs of Layton. He is the student body president and a member of the National Honor Society. In January, he has been invited to represent Utah on a con- committee gressional singing. Randen J. Funk was the Elk's Teenager of the Month recently. He received a $50 check and a certificate of achievement. A, i, Melissa Mathias In the LDS Church, he has re- ceived the Duty to God and On My Honor awards and is the deacon quorum president in his ward. Melissa Mathias, daughter of Bonnie and Ed Mathias of has been named Student of the Month at Central Davis Junior High School. Melissa has a 3.7 gpa and is on the high honor roll, citizenship honor roll, and was the top student in the Math Counts contest. She enjoys geometry, science and P.E. classes, as well as sports, soccer, volleyball, art, camping and bow hunting. She plans to graduate from Lay-to- Open house planned at Sunset school n, school clubs organize and raise funds for their own use. As a junior he was active in drama and the Chemistry Club. He was sophomore class vice president, and participated in drama. He serves as first counselor in his LDS priest quorum and is an Eagle Scout. An avid sports fan, he enjoys both watching and participating in sports. He has played soccer for 10 years.
