I The SALT LAKE CITY first childrens art exhibit ever shown at the Museum of Church History and Art opened in September. A member of the Sunset 7th Ward, the new missionary is an Eagle Scout and attended one year at Utah State University where he majored in mechanical engineering. Churches sponsoring TV network The LDS Church has joined with' 7 other religious organizations in the United States to sponsor an interfaith cable TV network designed to provide programming. VISN (Vision Interfaith Satellite Network) is operated by the National Interfaith Cable Coalition, with headquarters in New York City. Its programming began Monday, Sept. 19, with the first schedule offering a wide variety of programming from a broad range of faith groups. The LDS Church is joining with Jewish, Catholic, Protestant and other faiths and organizations in preparing programs for the network. Agreements have already been made with cable systems having a total of 18.4 million subscribers, more than any other cable network has had for its initial startup, including ESPN, CNN, HBO d oc any of the more networks. Entertainment for the entire evening will be provided by the singing group, Harmony. Country fair dated by Sunset 7th Ward SUNSET The Sunset 7th Ward is sponsoring a Country Fair Friday, Oct. 7 at 6 p.m., 338 W. 1800 N., Sunset. There will be handcrafted items, quilts, food and baked goods for sale. Smith of ed Children of the LDS Church between the ages of 5 and 12 were invited to illustrate their favorite story or scripture from the Book of Mormon. We received artwork from children living as far away as Hong Kong and Zimbabwe, said Jennifer Lund, Museum Educa tion Coordinator and exhibit curator. Children from 41 states and 23 countries submitted drawings to the museum. We wanted to encourage children to use their artistic talents to express their feelings about what Morthey read in the Book of mon, Mrs. Lund said. The Book of Mormon is the scripture assigned for reading in Latter-da- y Saint families and the focus in many of the Churchs class manuals for 1988. The exhibit will also include a hands-o- n activity for children who visit the museum. Crayons and pencils will be provided and children will be encouraged to draw and color their own picturesThe exhibit will run through Jan. 16, 1989.
