Colorado man convicted in woman's death SIMMONS REGENCY MATTRESS A Colorado man LAYTON has been convicted of murder in the beating death of the daughter of a Layton woman. Sheila Schmid, the daughter of Cora Kissell Phillips of Layton, was found dead in her Denver, Colo, home last June. Schmid had been beaten to death with a hammer, according to police reports. Dennis Gallegos was recently murder convicted of in Schmids death and will be sentenced April 16. The penalty for murder in Colorado is life imprisonment or a minimum of 40 years in prison without possibility of parole.
