Josette Roper, Utah State director for the Mrs. America Pageant, said her regional office is now accepting applications for the statewide competition to be held in Salt Lake City, May 7, 8 and 9. To qualify for the competition, a contestant must have been married for at least one year prior to the pageant date, have been a resident of the state for a minimum of six months, be a U.S. Citizen, and be at least 18 years of age. No performing talent is required. Volunteers will be calling the residents of the county for pledges. The money raised will be used for education programs, research ;and service to cancer patients.
