Jean Simons will be the featured artist at the Layton Arts Councils recital on Friday, Aug. e 22, 7:30 p.m., at the Layton Museum. Miss Simons graduated cum laude from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in music education with a choral emphasis. While there, she sang with the womens chorus, the Oratorio Choir and conducted the Footprints of Freedom Singers. She also played in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta. Patience. The program will include a variety of classical, folk, Broadway, and pop musical numbers. Whatcott Lizabeth will accompany her. She graduated from BYU with a bachelor of music degree in piano pedagogy and is offering private piano lessons in Layton. Saturday, Aug. 23, will be fun for the entire family when the Rainbow Connection performs in Clearfields Arts in the Park free outdoor concert series. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Bicentennial Park Amphitheater, 800 E. 650 S., Clearfield. The Rainbow Connection entertainers are a talented group of 6 young performers aged from the North Ogden area. This is the fifth season that the group has been performing. They do musical variety with costumes and choreography. He retired from military service as a lieutenant colonel and retired from Hill Air Force Base as an electrical engineer. Her hobbies include cake decorating and painting. They served in a variety of positions in the LDS Church and are presently working at the Ogden LDS Temple.
