Show 4D Lakeside Review, Wednesday, June 26, 1985 Teacher Earns Masters Degree Davis Senior Gets AF Title for a Day Davis High HILL AFB School senior Joseph Hawkins was recently selected for the Youth Commander For A Day program at Hill Air Force Base. Hawkins was the finalist chosen from several entries submitted by local high schools. Sponsored by the Base Enlisted Advisory Committee, the Youth Commander for a Day program allows selected individuals in the surrounding area to see first hand the responsibilities of an Air Force commander. As part of the activities for this program, Hawkins met with commanders from the 2849th Air Base Group and the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing and toured vari KAYSVILLE Bradley con, 14, son of Chuck and Jill con visit to the NCO Club, Hawkins visited the minuteman missile test facility and tried his hand at some of the training simulators. The high point of his visit was a conference with Maj. Gen. Charles McCausland, commander, Ogden Air Logistics Center, to discuss the depth and scope of responsibilities faced by Air Force officers. Hawkins is a cross country runner and enjoys music. He is an Eagle Scout and active in his church and community. The boys hiked the historical trail through Emigration Canyon, picking up and bagging litter as they walked. The troop is sponsored by the Layton 33rd LDS Ward. Cub Scouts Receive Awards in Pack LAYTON Several Cub Scouts from Pack 410 in Layton received awards at their June pack meeting. In Den one, awards were given to Ben Graham, who earned his Bear, and Jared Youngman, who earned his Bobcat rank. In the Webolos Den, Kyle Probert, Paul Weaver, and Troy Blackner all earned their showman pins. He is a at- Kaysville Junior High. Tor his Eagle service project, Bfad enlisted the help of his fellow Boy Scouts in selling pizza. They earned $160 for the purchase of infant car seats for the Davis County Health Department. The seats may be rented by mothers of new babies. Brad is a member of Troop 341 sponsored by the Kaysville 10th LDS Ward. Sylvia graduated in the top 3 percent of her class with surama cum laude honors and a grade point average of 3.95. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. Mrs. Benson, originally from American Fork, is married to John R. Benson. They are the parents of four children. She received her bachelor of science degree from Utah State University.
