Kirkwood said homeowners in Wheatridgc, an unincorporated subdivision, pay $46.41 less per year in property taxes than a Roy City resident in a comparable home. Residents of Lakevicw Equestrian, another unincorporated subdivision. pay $22.58 less per year. The two subdivisions represent the low and high end of comparisons. When analyzing differences in overall mill levies, most Roy residents are assessed a total of 73.45 mills while Wheatridge residents are assessed 71.06 mills and Lak- - Jr Staff In response FARMINGTON to citizen's requests, the Farming-to- n City Capital Improvements Committee has recommended changes in the city's cemetery policies. Brent Tennant, city councilman and chairman of the committee, recommended a raise in cemetery use fees and a relaxing of the city's stand against raised markers. He also asked the council to authorize the city to reclaim lots bought several years ago by people who have since died and who had no heirs at the time of their death. There is a certain process cities have to go through, Tennant explained. Lots must be identified and notice ruust be published in the paper. It's probably similar to unclaimed property laws. Based on a study done by the committee, Tennant advised that burial and permit fees be raised and that an extra $150 fee be charged for raised headstones. More effort is needed to take care of the grounds around the upright headstones, he said. Extra fees will be put into a perpetual care fund in hopes that in the future the cemetery will become N.. -- J -- e'--Uj In response to their grievances, the city plans to hold liable any crews or workers who damage cemetery property.
