Jr. Auxiliary Junior Girls of the Payson American Legion Auxiliary have sent an additional mailing of 18 gift cookie packages to the military men of the Payson area. Some 14 packages were mailed about two weeks ago to all available names. Since that time 18 additional names were submitted to the committef in charge. Cookies were made in the recent batch by Marie Payne, Terri Llewelyn and Judy Wilson. Mrs. Laura Steele, Mrs. Gladys Larson and Mrs. Ella Stevens packaged and mailed them. The American Legion cooperated in paying some of the postage. Service men who will received the cookies are: SN Victor N. Bradley retired Dec. 1 44 years as an employee of the Utah Power and Light Company. Mr. Bradley started his career with the company in November of 1926 in Eureka, Utah where he worked as a laborer to begin with and was made Storekeeper in 1931. He was then moved to Price, Utah as a meter reader and collector and then to Provo in 1936 where he after Engagement & wedding plans revealed DeHart are Mrs. Louis K. and pleased to announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Cathie, to Dr. David Wayne Young D.M.D., son of Mr. and Mrs. Sharp Young of West Jordan, Utah. The marriage will be solemnized on December 18th in the Salt Lake Temple. An open house for close friends and relatives will honor the couple the same Mr. evening at the home of the brides par- ents. Cathie is a graduate of the Brigham Young University. She has been teaching at the Wasatch school in Provo for the past three years. Dr. Young is a graduate of Utah State University and is a graduate ofUniversity of Oregon Dental School He is presently practicing in British Columbia. Matilda Haskell directed singing with Grace Fielding at the piano. Prayer was by Oleah White and the pledge was led by Doretta Box. The birthday song honored Laura Coombs, Jennie Elmer and Margaret Marvin. Della Miller provided a history of Joseph Hyrum Brown and his wife, Sariah Raw-so- n Brown, which was read by Mary Marvin. Hazel Gasser read several poems. The lesson Railroads and Ghost Towns was given by Grace Fielding. GOOD COOKS Corner Mrs. Ruth Rothe If you havent already made your fruit cake for the holiday season and stored it away to age you may want to try one of the following recipes. GOLDEN FRUIT CAKE 1 cup soft shortening cups brown sugar large eggs 3 cups flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 12 cup milk 12 cup light colored jelly 1 tsp. vanilla pound white raisins pound citron pound candied cherries pound candied pineapple pound candied lemon peel 14 pound candied orange peel 12 pound nutmeats 1 12 14 14 14 r Cream together shortening and sugar; beat in eggs until fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with mixture of milk, jelly and vanilla. Stir in fruit and nuts. Line 2 large loaf pans with heavy wrapping paper or foil and grease well Pour fruit cake mixture into pans and bake at 300 degress F. for 2 12 to 3 hours. Cool. Bake in greased and floured 8 12 inch tube pan for 1 hour and 25-min. at 350 degrees or bake in 10x10x2 inch pan or 8x12x2 inch pan for 5 min. Many ladies like to add small gum drops and just the regular citron mix to their cakes and others like family favorite such as pecans. Greenhalgh of Payson and Mr. Ned L. Greenhalgh of Roosevelt. The benedict-ele- ct is the son of Mrs. Karine Carter of Payson and the late Reed J. Carter. Miss Greenhalgh is a senior at Payson High School where she will soon graduate and is a graduate of LDS Seminary. She has been a member of the Paysetters, active in school plays and held the title of Miss Santaquin 1969. Mr. Carter graduated from Payson High School where he held office as studentbody was active in sports and was president of the Lettermens Club. He attended Snow College and is now serving in the U.S. Army. 2 4 1 30 55-6- Christmas concert The melodic sounds of Christmas will fill the hearts of all who avail themselves of the opportunity to attend the annual Choralette Christmas Festival of Music. The concert will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th, at the Spanish Fork High School Auditorium. The speciaUy selected program of numbers will delight both young and old and as they say bridge the generation gap. Seasonal favorites such as Silent Night, and Santas reindeer, as well as zebras will be on hand. Spread the word also that Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus have promised to stop by to wish everyone the seasons best. Those attending were Mrs. Ellen Jensen, Mrs. Nellie Larsen, Mrs. Nora Larsen, Mrs. Cladys Christmas, Mrs. Jen Swen-se- n, Mrs. Rhea Swensen, Mrs. LaVieve Cornaby, Mrs. Mattie Cornaby, Mrs. Lydia Argyle and Mrs. Sylvia McKell.
