She was born April 14, 1884, at Indian-ol- a, Utah County, a daughter of Henry E. She and Mary R. Patterson Gardner. married William Lee Vest Feb. 13, 190 at Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake temple. He died April 17, 1957. Mrs. Vest moved to Payson with her parents as an infant and was a Payson resident to the time of her death, though she had spent most of her time in Salt Lake recently. She was active in business and civic affairs and operated the Elite Cafe, a landmark on Payson Main Street, for over 60 years. She was active in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a member of the LDS church. Surviving are one son and two daughters, Dr. Lee Niles Vest, Mrs. Zora Barnett, both of Long Beach, Calif. Mrs. Charles B. (Thelma) Smurthwaite, Salt Lake City; 3 grandchildren; 5 also one and one Orrin four and Gardner, brother sisters, Roosevelt; Mrs. Della Spencer, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Nellie Elmer and Mrs. Sylvia Black, both of payson; and Mrs. Daisy Ferris, Springville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, at 1 p.m. in Payson Ward church. Friends may call at Rigby Mortuary Wednesday evening 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday prior to services.
