Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Allow to raise until double in bulk, 4 to 5 hours. Roll dough out on lightly floured board to 12 inch thick and cut into doughnut shapes. I like to use a tuna fish can as a cutter, this makes about 5 inch doughnuts. Place on aluminum foil to raise until double in bulk. By the time all the doughnuts are rolled out and cut, the first ones are ready to cook. Fry doughnuts in hot deep fat (375 degrees) until golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper. If desired, dip while hot into granulated sugar. Others may be frosted and decorated by dipping tops into frosting, draining slightly, then dipping into chopped nuts, coconut, or decorative candies. These are delicious so be prepared for plenty of compliments from your family. 2 1 Irma Jean Orton and Dale R. Blake 4-- Engagement & wedding plans revealed Mr. and Mrs. Bryon L. I An Open Letter to the Utah State Go- vernor Dear Governor Rampton: Would you please ask the people of the state of Utah to have a real Christmas this year; the kind of Christmas that it was meant to be; one in memory of our Lord and Savior: At 10 oclock on Christmas Eve before the children go to bed, let the sirens blow and the church bells ring for five minutes in His memory. Let us stop wherever we are and go outside and lift our heads to heaven. Let our voices ring out in song with Silent Night Holy Night and Glory to the Newborn King. Let us bow our heads in silent prayer, asking God to forgive us of our sins and to grant joy and peace to the world. This Christmas let the heavens be filled with heavenly music from neighbor to neigh bor and from friend to friend as it did the night Christ was born. Let us aU let Him know how much we love and need Him in these days of so much turmoil and unrest in the world from one who needs and loves God. Ma LaRue Have you any old grudges you would lik to pay, Any wrongs laid up from a bygone day' Gather them now and lay thenu awa When Christmas comes.' ' Hard thoughts are heavy to carry, mj friend, And life is 'short from beginning to end Be kind to yourself, leave nothing to mei When Christmas comes. William Lytle |
