Show and innovation Go see it! The world premiere will be held on the Yale University campus this month and Escapades of notorious Utah outlaw by LaDaun Ercanbrack Sometime ago we read that a movie was in the making on the escapades of the notorious Utah outlaw, Butch Cassidy. Since then the men folks have been anxand now its iously watching for it coming. Because of a little story my husbands father used to tell, Butch has been very real and of interest to us. The story went something like this, while in his late teens, he was tending some weathers near Price when Butch came riding into camp with several other riders and a negro scout or body guard named, Talbo, who rode behind for the outlaws lookout. Butch asked for a mutton and took aim with his six shooter and shot one in the eye, dressed it out and took it to their hideout in a canyon near there. The family have in their possession a gun of Butchs which he claims he got from Talbo after Butchs death. At one time it had notches in the wooden handle, then it became lost and when found again, the handle was ruined -- - so it has been renovated. Robert LeRoy Parker, or Butch was born in Southern Utah, on a farm just south of Circleville, a little town in Piute County that was settled in 1864. His boyhood home located along highway 89 is being preserved as a point of interest. As an outlaw of the early 1900s he achieved lasting fame as the fabulous. Butch in the late 19th and early 20th century for his escapades as leader ofthe Robbers Roost, Wild Bunch and other gangs. He rode in the three corners area of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming in country. The film, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" is a Panavisionby 20th Century Fox. Actor, Paul Newman will portray Butch. The directors have captured the panoramas of the West along with the poverty of Bolivia (on location in Mexico) of 1905. It has been rated M for mature audiences. It has been labeled a must see by nearly all critics and is a good movie with a lot of light comedy. One critic, Vernon Scott of United Press International, says of it, Butch Ca jsidy and the Sundance Kid is a motion picture gem, that rarity combining hilarity, artistic beauty, violence ck THE PAYSON CHRONICLE Movie premier to be in Provo 3-- B Thursday, October 2, 1969 the western premiere will be September 30 at Provo, with a party at Sundance in Provo Canyon, owned and operated by Robert Redford, who plays the part of Sundance in the movie. Katherine Ross is the girl friend of the Sundance Kid and adds beauty to the picture. Newman and Redford playing the part of a pair of historically real but witty bank and train robbers, are from the beginning to the end a twosome of half-w- it losers, always on the run from lawmen. Through humor and brilliant use of camera the film is pure entertainment. Butch's youngest sister, Mrs. Lulu Parker Bettensoa of Price, who is now 85, has been invited to attend the World Premiere and will take part in a seminar of college students. She boarded a jet at Salt Lake City for New York and will be interviewed by the press and make several television appearances. Part of the movie was screened at St. George, and his sister went there to tour the sets. She was satisfied with Newman playing her brothers part, but when she came to Salt Lake a few weeks ago to see a screening of the movie, she was a little unhappy with the ending for it gave the post-premie- re impression that Butch and Sundance were killed in South America -- - the history books of the West say the same but she says it wasnt so. The ending was written by screenwriter William Goldman. She has a book just about ready for on the real life editing and publishing of her brother, it tells of his death as she says it happened. Where did Butch die? If she doesnt divulge her secret under questioning from the press and college students -- - well, guess we will have to read her book to find out. Whoever put her wise to this selling trump was a might crafty -- - crafty or not, Ill buy it Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 20th Century-Fox- s adventurefree-wheeli- -drama, starring Paul Newman, Roband Katharine Ross, premieres Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Academy and Pioneer Theatres in Provo.
