Show Santaquin News Notes Mrs. Della Hudson Phone THE 6 PAYSON Thursday, September 18, 1969 754-348- 2 Mrs. Fern Nelson recently underwent in the Payson Hospital. Mrs. Ann Craig underwent surgery last week in the Nephi Hospital. We who live here where the winters get relatively cold must realize that house plants need special care. To avoid excessive dryness, its wise to keep your plants standing on shallow trays filled with moss or sand. Moisten this base material frequently. To protect from low night temperatures, move the plants away from windows. In daylight, when temperatures are high from artificial heat, dont place house plants near the radiator. Insufficient light is another problem. Give your plants maximum sunshine, even those that prefer shade: African violets, ferns, begonias. As for watering, keep soil moist but not saturated. When you receive a gift plant, remember its had ample fertilizer in the green house where it was grown. Dont fertilize for at least a month. The african violet needs ample light, humidity of 40 to 50 percent, and ordinary living room temperatures. Axaleas are best if kept in a cool place. Give them plenty of water. Holly should be placed in a cool east window. Chrysanthemums like bright light and ample moisture. Gardenias thrive in bright light. Peperonia should be placed in indirect light. Chinese evergreens are plants for shady places. Daffodios always need a bright and sunny location. All house plants needing water on their foliage should be sprayed with an atomizer and in adding moisture to any plant the water should first be warmed to room temperature. Never use cold water. Spending time last week in the Payson Hospital was Mrs, Alice Beckstead. She underwent surgery. Mrs. Ruth Nickels and son, Dean, of Madison, Wisconsin spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Heelis. Dated at Provo City, Utah, 29th day of August, 1969. RALPH CHAPPLE Sheriff of Utah County, Utah Attorney for Plaintiff J. Harold Call The South Utah County unit of the American Cancer Society has gone over the top in its 1969 Cancer Crusade Fund Drive and helped the Utah division achieve its goal of $200,000 for the first time in the divisions history. Rendell N. Mabey, State crusade chairman, said this success was made possible by the efforts and dedicated work of the volunteer workers directed by Mrs. Helen Hawkins of Spanish Fork as crusade chairman and county unit chairman. He complimented residents of the County area for their generosity in the struggle to find a cure for cancer and to educate the public to the dangers and warning signals of the malignant disease, which can often be successfuUy treated if caught in time. We salute all of those who worked so hard to make this the most successful cancer campaign in the states history. The South Utah County unit collected more than 116 per cent of its 1969 crusade goal. A goal of $2800.00 had been set for the unit and a total of $3,254.47 was collected by volunteer workers in the campaign. In the residential campaign, workers left educational literature at every home to alert people to the warning signals of cancer and to urge them to see their doctors for regular physical examinations most effective each year--th- e act that can be taken. Early diagnosis and treatment often leads to a cure. Funds collected by the Utah Division are used to help support medical and scientific reasearch into cancer, to help take care of cancer patients and to provide education programs to the public. Nearly $600,000 worth of research is presently being supported at Utah Universities and hospitals by the Cancer Society. ng jSUy NOTICE OF SALE ' Home-Maki- Ceremonies for the beautiful Latter-Da- y Saints Temple to be built at Provo near the BYU. It is indeed wonderful to know that we are given the privelege of being here on earth in a time of testing of pro- -' bation. We must learnto prove our valiancy or worth somehow. We must learn the security of being able to report to our Lord day and night in fact to really talk to Him whenever we feel His strength. Oh, He listens alright He loves us He understands our weakness although He has overcome any He may have felt here on earth. He does understand He comprehends all things. He knows a repentant heart--H- e knows our every desire. He knows your procrastination or of your real effort He knows of mine. Thus -- there is one thing we must learn we must learn to accept His Gospel Plan as a unit as a whole way of life. We simply cannot accept that which we deem easy and forget the parts we find harder to live, to which we can readily conform or not to live according to our weak desires. If we do not open and accept and use the whole package- - how can we expect all the promised blessings wrapped within this magnificent glory-fille- d unit? Oh, He listens alright. He hears the fall of the leaf of the bird do you know He grieves when we feel disobedient? He loves us--died for us that we might overcome the sins of this world. He understands our weakness and gives us the avenue to seek Him to overcome. He comprehends all things . He knows what your inner thoughts are and He surely awaits true and humble prayer from your lips.
