Strong and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lindsey of Bristow, Oklahoma; Mr. Ron Beeler of Long Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Edra Edman of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Flora Strong of Evanston, Wyoming. The young couple left by plane for San Francisco and Hawaii for a three week honeymoon, after which they will be at home in Aneheim, Calif, where Robert is employed as an Aeronautical Engineer for Douglas Aircraft Company. June 12th a Bridal Shower was given at Salem Church where Sharyn and her mother greeted friends and relatives in the Relief Society room. Guests were greeted at the door by Marsha and Coleen Edman. Gifts were arranged by Anna and Hanks Minnie was dining room hostess and serving was done by Marshas MIA girls who were Connie Hanks, Judy Griffiths, Cathy Davis and LeAnn Hanks. Gift bearers were Larry and Susan Edman, children of Richard and Colleen. Sunday morning Mrs. Edman and her sister, Anna Stark, took Gary and his wife to Salt Lake to catch a plane for their home in Calif. Those attending the party were also present at the Lions State Convention in St. George where Max was elected District Governor of 28H. Return home Mr. and Mrs. J. Rowe Groesbeck are vacation back in Payson after a ten-da- y trip. In company with Dave Huish of Roosevelt and his daughter, Mrs. A. B. Chapman of Littleton, Colorado, they visited the site of Bents Old Fort and La Junta, Colorado. Kathy Howard of Salt Lake City has spent the past week at the home of her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Randall Hiatt. Following the ceremony, a breakfast given by the grooms parents was held at the International Pancake House in Salt Lake for members of the wedding party. The couple was honored by a reception in Santaquin Thursday evening. They greeted guests, assisted by the grooms parents and a brother, Darrell, and the brides mother, before a backdrop of white arranged with metallic lattice and draped with pink chiffon. Tall baskets of pink gladioli and white mums stood at either side. The bride wore a princess style gown of white lace with fingertip veil and carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and carnations. Her attendants were a sister, Judy Gilison, as maid of honor, and Barbara Watkins, . Elaine Austin, PeggySpute and Ruth Slover .who wore floor length gowns of pink dotted and carried single white rosebuds. . swiss Ray Jolley, a brother of the groom, was best man. Her veil of illusion was caught into a pearl enchanted white headpiece. She carried a bouquet of pink rosebuds and white steph-anot- is combined with a white orchid. The tiered wedding cake was displayed on a round table and tiny cherubs held arrangements of pink roses on small serving tables. Pink rosebuds in vases were placed on the gift tables. Plans for a September 5th Wedding in Salt Lake Temple are being made by Miss Caroline Holliday and Mr. Adrian Simpson. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Calvin Holliday, Mrs. Evelyn Williams, and Mrs. Paul 0. Hurst of Payson, Utah. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel M. Simpson of Iona, Idaho. Miss Holliday graduated from Payson High School, had four years of Seminary, and served in the Northern Indian Mission. She has attended Snow College and BYU, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She was also a member of F.H.A. Pep Club, Lambda Delta Sigma, Zeta Epsilon, Tribe of Many Feathers, Laminate Sor. Organ., and she was Miss Indian Princess for Utah County and was Second Attendent to Miss Indian BYU. The groom graduated from Ricks Jr. College and attended I.S.U., where he was a member of Lambda Delta Sigma. He is now majoring in Industrial Arts at BYU with the Lamanite Program. He has also served a mission to the Alaskan and Canadian Mission. Mr. Jones Mrs. William H.- - Jones of Newfoundland, The Nebo Stake Center in Payson was the scene of a wedding reception honoring the new Mr. and Mrs. Donald W. Jones Friday evening, June 20th. th Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chatwinfrom Pomona, Calif, visited her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Jensen. Plans revealed and Mrs. Donald W. Jones honored at beautiful wedding reception June 20 Mr. Nephi, Utah, Santaquin, Flowers 623-014- 0 Utah, 754-366- 0 J Fork, Utah, August 23, 1894, the son of Samuel and Mary Jane Thomas Brockbank. Mrs. Brockbank was born in Springville, Utah, August 30, 1895, a daughter of Albert and Charlotte Sperry Manwaring. They were married June 25, 1919, in the Salt Lake Temple by President Heber J. Grant. The Brockbanks met at Brigham Young University from which institution they each received their teaching credentials. Mr. Brockbank then dedicated his life to education where he distinguished himself as an outstanding teacher and administrator. For fifteen years following their marriage, the Brockbanks lived in Spanish Fork where Mr. Brockbank was both teacher and principal and where he also conducted a farming and livestock operation. In 1934, they moved to Springville when he was appointed principal of the Springville High School where he served for 12 years during which time he was also member and president of the Springville Art Association. During this period the art gallery was erected. In 1946, Mr. Brockbank was appointed Asst. Supt. of NeboSchool District and four years later assumed the superintendency where he served with distinction for ten years prior to his retirement in 1960 after spending a total of 43 years in education. Mr. Brockbank did graduate work at Brigham Young University, University of Southern California, University of California at Berkley and Stanford University. Mr. Brockbank has been active in teaching and leadership capacities in the LDS Church throughout his life. He has likewise given of himself in civic and community affairs including service on the Springville City Council and 45 years in Kiwanis during which time he served as president of both the Spanish Fork and A special National Springville clubs. Legion of Honor was awarded him by Kiwanis International in recognition of his exceptional service. Mr. Brockbank is a member of the Board of Directors, Central Bank & Trust Co. and is past president of the B.Y.U, Alumni Association. Mrs, Brockbank has given a lifetime of service to her church and community. For 25 years she served on the PrimaryStake Board and has continusouly served in the Relief Society and Sunday School organizations. Throughout her life she has been active musically. She has been a member of Alpha Beta, Literary, and Hafen Dallin clubs for 34 years and has served each as president. At this significant milestone in their lives, their many friends in Spanish Fork, Payson and Springville, together with the countless students scattered world-wid- e, join in . honoring this beloved couple. . Since the dance comes at a time of great celebration for our country's freedom double the fun is in store. Terry reunion The annual Charles A. Terry reunion was held Saturday, June 21, in Memorial Park at Payson with 250 approximately persons attending. They came from Utah towns, California, Wyoming and Colorado. Margaret M. Cloward, Payson, eldest daughter, hosted the event along with members of her family. Other sons and daughters of the C.A. Terry family are Ira L. Terry, Essie Pulliam and Eva Cox of Provo and Hilda Lance ofSalt Lake City. A delightful picnic luncheon was enjoyed. Because of rain the family adjourned to the Payson Fourth Ward Cultural Hall and enjoyed a program presented by members of each family. The program was directed by Beverly Evans and Marilyn Davis. Rex Mendenhall was master of ceremonies. Music Tor dancing was played by Merrill Terry and Belli Cox. |
