Show 4 THE CHRONICLE PAYSON Wedding vows S0Cl'ety and Qfuk Thursday, May 1, 1969 wedding reception was held Saturday April 19, in the Santaquin Tintic Stake Center honoring newleyweds Elizabeth Taylor, a daughter of Mrs. Lavina Taylor of Santaquin and the late Golden Taylor, and Jerry Wayne Yates of Dugway, he is the son of Mrs. Faye R. Yates of St. Louis, Miss. The young couple were united in ceremonies performed March 22 in Tooele, Utah. The post wedding reception was arranged by the brides mother. The bride wore her wedding gown of white satin, styled with empire waistline, long sleeves, edged with lace ruffles with lace repeated, on the skirt and enhanced with sequins and pearls. Her veil was caught with clusters of pearl trimmed flowers and she carried pink rose buds. Ellen Mathie was maid of honor with Jana Greenhalgh, Linda Broadbent, Hudson, Wendy Peterson, bridesmaids, in pink taffeta carrying pink and white carnations. Walter Fletcher served as best man. Guests were welcomed before a silver and white metallic backdrop featuring a large heart entwined with garlands. The young couple are making a home in A Jr. Cultus Members of the Junior Cultus Club gathered April 18 at the Oak Crest Inn to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the club. A full course dinner was served after which Mrs. Clarence Hill gave a Salute To Spring and the group sang April Showers conducted by Mrs. JackProvstgaard. Plans for the convention to be held in Payson April 26 with Payson clubs as host were outlined by Mrs, Douglass Holt, pres- ident. The table was decorated with arrangements of spring flowers and candies were found in favors that resembled tiny spring flowers. Mrs. Duane Patter was chairman of the lovely event, assisted by Mrs. Carlisle Burton, Mrs. Bernell Evans, Mrs. Clarence Hill, Mrs. Roy Holden, Mrs. Ronald Mayer, Mrs. Rex Mendenhall and Mrs. Kenneth Shepherd. This spring, as I watch the trees burst into bloom, especially the cherry trees, 1 am suddenly reminded of far off Japan and the delicacies that these people prepare. 1 had never tried to make many of there dishes until the ofher day when I made up my mind to experiment. I decided to try Sukiyaki. To my complete surprise, it turned out beautifully, and it was very delicious. Just before cooking time, arrange meat and vegetables attractively on large platter. Have small containers of sugar, monosodium glutamate, soy sauce, and beef stock handy. For toss stirring, youll want to use two tools at once a big spoon and fork. Preheat large (12 inch) skilled or oriental saucepan. Add suet, rub over the bottom and sides to grease, wiienyou have about 2 tablespoons melted fat, remove suet. Add beef; cook briskly, turning it over and over 1 or 2 minutes or until nicely browned. Now spinkle meat with sugar and monosodium glutamate, pour soy sauce and beef stock over. Continue cooking and toss stirring each group over high heat, about 1 minute. Push to one side, keeping in separate groups, add bean threads and remaining vegetables. Michael Herbert Reporter Piano recital Miss Nancy Holt, a junior majoring in music at the Brigham Young University, is being presented in Junior piano solo recital by Robert Smith at the Madsen Recital Hall, Harris Fine Arts Center, Friday, May 2, at 7:00 p.m. Her program will include selections from Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and Bartok. Miss Holt is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Holt of Payson. I (I used raw, peeled and deveined shrimp canned shrimp) 8 spinach leaves, cut in 1 12 inch pieces 12 cup sliced mushrooms 8 water chestnuts, sliced 2 slightly beaten eggs 2 cups chicken broth 12 teaspoon salt Make small slit in each shrimp; pull tail through. Wilt spinach in hot water. Drain. Line up 8 chawan-muccups or 5 ounce custard cups. In each, place shrimp, spinach, mushrooms and water chestnuts. Combine eggs, chicken broth and salt. Pour into cups. Cover with lids and if you dont have any, use foil. Set cups on rack in dutch oven. Pour hot water around cups 1 inch deep. Cover to steam. Over medium heat, bring water to simmering very slowly. Reduce heat and cook about 7 minutes or until knife inserted off center comes out clean. Top each custard with 14 teaspoon soy sauce and a thin twist of lemon peel. 8 American Legion Auxiliary Winners in the American Legion Auxiliary Essay Contest have been selected from the Payson High School. 25 students participated in this event. The contest is designed to promote Americanism in the schools and help the student in writing an essay. The assigned subject was I Am An American and I Speak For Democracy. The essay was to have been at least 300 words, or a maximum of 500 words, typewritten and double spaced. We are very proud of the students who took time and effort to participate in this contest. Winners were Jay Jolley, Dee Ann Davis and Alan Riley. They attended the American Legion 50th Anniversary Banquet and give their winning essays to the Legion Auziliary and special guests from the State. Special thanks goes to Mr. Christensen for his time and effort in encouraging the students to participate. The Junior Auxiliary of the Payson American Legion Auxiliary have made and presented to the VA Hospital in Salt Lake, hi CATERING SERVICE scrapbooks of jokes. This was a project for the girls in March, and the books were presented on April Fools Day, April 1, 1969. A letter of appeciation was sent by Mr. Howard J. Becker, Director of Voluntary Services at 2 the Hospital, and stated, in part: The imagination, initiative, and just plain fun idea in making joke scrapbooks for the patients here is one of the happiest gifts that could have been sent. Their arrival for April Fools Day was perfect timing. On behalf of the patients here who will certainly enjoy pursuing the joke scrapbooks, please extend to the Junior Girls of Payson Unit 48 and their Senior Advisor, Mrs. Mona Hall, our deep thanks. Officers chosen for the club were Sheri Brereton, president; Linda Larson, vice president; Colleen e, secretary; Debbie Kitteridge, song leader; and Emma Walker, reporter. We chose our project on home improvement. Linda Larson gave the opening ' prayer and Colleen Menlove led us in the pledge to the flag. We sang, This Little H Light of Mine.
