The lesson, Sailing Vessels and Steamboars, was given by Reba - Camp Nebo met Thursday, April 10, at Payson First Ward church under direction of Hazel Zeeman, second vice captain, Prayer was by Gladys Clayson. Pledge to the national flag was led by Jennie Elmer, and honor was paid to the state flag. Music was under direction of Haskell and Grace Fielding. Matilda Odessa Davis gave a report on the state convention held in Salt Lake City the previous weekend. A history of Lucrecia Hancock, was given by a Oleah White. Janie Marvin played an accordian selection. The lesson, Sailing Vessels and Steamboats, was given by Melva Powell. Florence Stoker reported on the meeting of the Womens Legislative CounciL Agnes Zeeman, president, conducted the meeting and urged members to attend the state convention April 19. They were also reminded that the May meeting will feature the Winona Thomas Creating Writing Award Night. Beth Huish arranged the program that followed the business meeting, and all went to Payson High School, where Nolan Barney, head of the art department at the school, demonstrated various forms of art. One of the most interesting was the creation of pottery on a potters wheel. He also showed the paintings of Eleanor Loveless, which are being displayed in a one-mart show this month. Jesse Hallis Holladay, 95, Santaquin, lifetime resident and active civic leader of this community, died early Friday morning in the Payson City Hospital of natural causes. He was born May 23, 1873, in Santaquin, a son of David Hallis and Henrietta Taylor Holladay. He married Jennie A. Peterson on Oct. 10, 1895, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died Jan. 19, 1956. Mr. Holladay had been a resident of Santaquin all of his life, where he had been active in civic and church affairs. For four years he had served as a member and secretary of the Santaquin Town CounciL He was also a member and secretary of the Summit Creek Irrigation Canal Company for six years. He received his education in Santaquin Schools and later attended the Brigham Young Academy. Active in the LDS Church, he had served as an elder in the Santaquin First Ward, and was secretary for the elders quorum of that ward for 17 years. For 10 years Mr. Holladay wasadeputy Utah County Assessor for Santaquin District. He was a former nfember of the Santaquin band. He was a retired farmer. Earl Haskell officiated. Mrs. Smith died Tuesday, April 8, 1969 in a Thousand Oaks, Calif, rest home of natural causes. She was born May 11, 1877, in Payson, a daughter of Jonathan G. and Alta Hancock Davis. She married Marion Albert Smith on Aug. 11, 1901, in Silver City. He died March 1, 1959. Mrs. Smith received her education in Payson City Schools. Her parents were Payson pioneers. Following her marriage she lived for a time in Payson and Salt Lake City and in 1925 she moved to California. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frankie Brill, West Covina, Calif., and Mrs. Larue Swartz, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; three grandchildren, and three waive any informality in a bid.
