If you have boys like mine, you have some anglers on your hands! All I ever hear of now is the fishin" season and I am continually cleaning up some kind of mess, like leader, hooks and even bait! Chuck and ONeil are busily getting things in order, for the opening and are always telling their little sister, Lisa, and I about the big one: they are figuring on catching this year. I was just getting over the idea of bustling about and was planning on just relaxing. Now, I realize that this was all wishful thinking. The opening day will probably find us camped on the bank of some lake or stream, mixing up our lines with the hundreds of thousands of fishermen, who, too, will be melted butter, dip them in bread crumbs or crushed corn flakes and place them on foil. Put them in the oven at about 350 degrees and let the oven do the rest. Bring them out piping hot, on a heated platter, surrounded by fresh sprigs of parsley and ls of sliced lemons. I usually serve these with potatoes au gratin or scalloped potatoes. One of the fresh spring salads I gave you last week would be just the thing with a meal like this. I really dont know if you readers are numerous enough along the lines of fish preparation, to dwell 'too long; on this subject or not, but I have scads of recipes for dishes with fishes as the main attraction. If any one of you would like me to give these recipes, please let cart-whee- mouth-wateri- ng me know. Next week, lets try our luck with menus and recipes for dishes to take with us on family outings or picnics. I know my family and friends are just waiting for the weather to clear up enough to go on an outing and there are a few people who have asked me for recipes of this nature, too. It seems to me its her way of prying into things she shouldnt be concerned with. Mrs. Miles Loveless to hold reception Mrs. Miles (Eleanor) Loveless will entertain Sunday, April 20 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Payson High School. Mrs. Loveless has been exhibiting 27 oil paintings during the month of April. She is a talented artist who has studied under many noted artisits. Signed S.S. Dear S.S., Sometimes teachers are better able to help some children than their own parents. A teacher that is truely concerned about children is to be commended. But if we parents would stop to lend a listening ear, our children would feel no need to confide in someone else. SANTAQUIN Rosalind Dear Rosalind, I made the cutest water pitchers out of some two quart fabric softener bottles. When I made punch in them it tasted like fabric softener. I washed them out good with soap and water and even soaked them in vinegar water all night, but the taste is still there. Do you know of some way to get that taste out of the bottles? Cora Dear Cora, I havent come up with an answer to your problem. I did some experimenting but the taste lingers on. If our readers have a solution to this problem please write in and let us know. We really enjoy the fresh trout that they catch, so I guess wed better not complain too much. I have heard a lot of people say that they do not like trout; that they hate the skins, Do you know what I do? I wash the fish as soon as they are cleaned, place them in a cloth sack and dip them in a kettle of very hot water for just a few minutes, much the same as you do with tomatoes or peaches before you bottle them. I remove them from the water and quickly skin them. After this dunking in the hot water, they peel off like nobodys business. They are then ready for the melted butter in the frying pan. Just fry them until they are a golden brown and are they ever delicious with spuds in the jackets, peeled and fried. All you need for a very nutritious meal, along with the fish and potatoes, is a fresli salad or vegetable. Maybe it was a fisherman who ate a dinner like this, that remarked that fishing is a tranquilizer; so is a satisfied stomach! Another delicious way to serve trout, is baked or broiled.
