Eggs ala golden rod Oven crisp bacon Pink cereal Coffee cream Jiffy hot cross buns Hot steaming coffee milk Note: I gave you recipes for both the eggs ala goldenrod and pink cereal in previous columns. Here are the two new ones: BACON OVEN CRISP: is made by cooking in a skillet in oven until desired crispness is obtained. MORNING FRESH SALAD: can be made by alternating strawberries and temple oranges on crisp lettuce leaf. Topped with powdered sugar for dressing. Always make sure you have a bright, clean tablecloth on the table. Also, a bouquet of hyacinths tulips, or daffodials would be especially lovely today. JIFFY HOT CROSS BUNS: 1 cake com1 pkg. active dry yeast or pressed yeast 34 cup water 12 cups packaged 12 cup currants 2 biscuit mix tablespoons sugar cinnamon 1 beaten egg white slightly 12 teaspoon vanilla Sifted confectioners sugar. Soften dry yeast in warm water or compressed yeast in lukewarm water. Add 3 next 5 ingredients beat vigorously minutes. Turn out on surfaced well dusted with biscuit mix knead until smooth, about 25 strokes. Roll out to 12 inch. Cut with floured 2 12 inch diameter biscuit cutter; Shape into buns. Place in greased 11x7x1 12 inch baking pan. Cover with damp cloth. Let rise in warm place till almost 14 hours). If double inbulk (about in each bun with cross cut shallow desired, scissors. Brush tops with slightly beaten egg whites. Bake in hot oven (400 oven) 12-minutes or until done. Remove to cooling rack. Add vanilla and confectioners sugar (about 1 cup) to remaining egg white. Use this as a frosting for piping crosses on warm buns. Makes about 1 dozen. You should have enough ideas for Easter Good luck and I hope you enjoy by now all of them. I received a card last week from Keith D. Tanner and was very happy to hear that the Payson Chronicle is read and enjoyed by many in that area. I was especially proud to learn my column is accepted with pleasure by those who read it on the West Coast. Im not going to tell you what Im going to write about next week, mainly because I dont know myself. How about that? See you next week. Thelma 2 14 teaspoon 2-- -1 The family of Surelda B. Bell Telephone Laboratories have developed a plastic telephone gong which can be heard more readily by persons with impaired hearing. The new gong emits a low frequency ringing tone rather than high frequency tones produced by standard metal telephone bells. Since impaired hearing is more common at high frequencies, the plastic bell will be of greater benefit to persons with defective hearing. Johnson noted the innovation is typical of the Bell Systems efforts to improve communications facilities for the hard of hearing. It will be approximately one year before a sufficient number of the new telephone ringers will be available for general installation throughout the Bell System, he said.
