Mrs. Tovells husband, Master Sgt. William Tovell arrived Jan., 3 by plane from Thailand, where he has been stationed with the Air Force, and on Jan., 5 the Tovell family moved to Patrick Air Force Base, Florida, where Sgt. Tovell is to be stationed during coming months. The base is only 14 miles from Cape Kennedy. Enroute home, the Wilcock family took advantage of a stop in Denver, Colo., and by telephone learned of the birth of a baby girl on Dec., 9 to Gene Hanson and his wife, Tony. Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Dun-fo- rd expressed happiness at being back in Payson, where they have spent many happy Christmases while rearing, their family here. They were joined for the holiday by their son, Gary, and his wife and young son, who are residing in Las Cruces, New Mexico; and other sons and daughters as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Ned Dunford Mr. and Mrs. Don (Barbara) Christensen, all of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Ryan (Ruth) Creer and three children of Leland. Ann Dunford, a senior at Payson High School, joined her parents in entertaining the family. About 35 family members gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Coray during the holidays, when honor was paid to Mr. Coray, who was celebrating his 83rd birthday. Children grandchildren and living nearby attended. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Angus are making trips to Salt Lake City to visit his mother, Mrs. Bertha Jones, who is recovering from critical surgery at LDS Hospital Mrs. Jones is reported to be improving slowly. Mr. and Mrs. Weston Bean returned home Saturday night er after an enjoyable vacation in Tucson, Ariz., with their daughter, Marion, and her husband, Dr. Mark M. Kartch-ne- r, and their children, Kevin and Kathy. They were accompanied by their daughter, Linda, a teacher in the schools at Sacramento, Calif., who was at home for the holidays. Enroute to Tucson they stopped at Las Vegas, Nev., for an overnight stay. Linda later returned to Sacramento while the Beans remained for a longer visit. They noted that the warm Arizona climate was of merit to their stay, with the temperature reaching 80 degrees. mid-wint- Mr. and Mrs. Layne Elmer, who are residing in Beaver, spent a part of their Christmas vacation in Payson with his! parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Elmer, and other relatives. Mrs. Belle Montague spent tier Christmas week at Scull Valley with Mr. and Mrs. George Montague and family, ; Mrs. Van Cannann (Georgia Olsen) and three young sons spent a few days last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs,. George Olsen. On Friday she was joined by her husband, an associate of the Welfare Dept, at Richfield, who had spent a feek in training in Salt Lake City. Accompaning him was his daughter-in-laMrs. Anne Smith of Salt Lake. They were both attired in formal wear. There were approximately 1000 w, present to enjoy the banquet, dancing and the program furnished by the unique Royal Scots Bagpipe Band, the Utah Symphony orchestra and entertainment by the Reportory Dance Theatre of the University of Utah. Of special interest to their visit was a trip to Salt Lake City, where they called on Pearl hy Wing and her husband, Murray Wing. The ladies have been friends since 1902, when Mrs. Wing resided in Payson as a girl. Mr, and Mrs. Len Huff of Orem were in Payson last week to visit their aunt, Mrs. Lillian Hancock, who is conve-lescifrom hospitalization at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Henline, The Ladies Literary Club met Wed. night at the home of Mrs. Alberta Ferre. Hostesses were Mrs. Ferre and Mrs. Olive Greenhalgh. The group was entertained by the winners at Payson High School who gave their talks on Democracy. They were Diane Greenhalgh, Steven Olson and Don Christensen. Kenneth Shaw played accordion numbers; Mrs. Vivian Roper gave a brief report on her LDS Mission to the Northeastern States and Mrs. Alberta Ferre gave current events. Refreshments were served. Mr. Max Peterson who has been a patient in the Payson hospital for the past several weeks returned to his home Sat. ng Mr, and Mrs. Carlisle Burton arranged a birthday dinner at their home Sunday in honor of their son, Kent, who was cele- brating his 13th birthday, and in honor of Mrs. Burtons mother, Mrs. LeoFech. m Several Payson people attended a Chi Tour party Friday evening in Salt Lake City. The event was arranged as a social for those who plan a tour of the South Paci- fic in mid-wint- er. Attending were Mrs. Erma Fech, who is assisting in arranging the tour, in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Roland Lindsay, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hansen and daughter, Miss Helen Hansen, all of Pay-so- n. Mr. Cliff Davis who has been a patient in the Payson hospital came home Friday. Brad and Bonnie Jarvis Finch brought their baby boy home from the Payson hospital Wed. after a 58 day stay there. He was born Nov. 22, 1968 and weighed 3 lbs. 8 12 oz. He now weighs 6 lbs. He was given the name of Chad. Mrs, Jeneil Duel has been a patient in the Payson Hospital with complications from the flu. Mrs, Thelma Sorenson, mother of Mrs. Francelle Pierce spent the weekend with her. Mrs. Sorenson lives in Provo. Pfc Brent Deuel, son of Mrs. Beth Anderson, has been home on leave from the armed services. He spent one month home This Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels were hosts at a social last Friday, when dinner was served at a Spanish Fork center, followed by games of Rook at their home in Payson. Dan reports that his brother and wife also have old Micha young son, ael Thomas Wright. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Moody of Salt Lake City. The paternal grandmother, Mrs. L. M. Wright of Payson, is presently visiting in Calif., dividing her time between the Thomas Wrights at LaMirada and with her daughter, Sally, and husband, Floyd Jensen, at Mr. and Mrs. David Garner spent a night at the home of their. son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Garner of Roy, when they were in northern Utah to attend a two-da- y school at Highland Estates in Weber Canyon. The Payson couple were with six other people who were taught how to grow bigger and better vine ripened tomatoes. J. B. Gobe of Texas, from the Research Scientists of the Pan American Hydroponic Cooperation, was the instructor. The Garners are now harvesting tomatoes in the plant east of Pay-so- n. Susan Hemmingway, of Mrs. LaRue Jarvis, has been visiting at her home. She has spent the past 16 months in Guam and returned to Salt Lake Sunday.
