Committee Organized By Extended Care Facility Group Charter members of the Pay-so- n City Hospital Extended Care Facility met in the first fully organized official capacity in committee planning for the future development of the facility and for the planning of the needs of those members of our communities who will need care under the auspices of this type of special services. The Committee is organized under the administrative direction of the Payson City Hospital and consists of three attending physicians on the Hospital Staff, including Dr. Robert H. Nightingale, Chairman, Dr. Enoch A. Ludlow, and Dr. Merrill L. Oldroyd. Other members of the Committee consists of Hospital Staff Members, including the Hospital Director of Nurses, Pharmacist, Consultant Dieti- of here attended a Showtime Varieties," Saturday night at the Provo High School. The program, a talent contest was sponsored by the Utah County Democratic Party to help raise funds for the Democratic campaign. County Chairman J. The meeting was held in the new Extended Care Facim on the new second lity floor of the hospital on Tuesday evening April 16th at 7:30 p.m., where Dr. Nightingale, Chairman, reviewed the comand history if plete over-vie- w Extended Care Facility concept and enlightened the group regarding the needs for each member and the responsibility of the same. He suggested that each member carefully reviews literature distributed and that at the next meeting each would be prepared to present his ideas and the needs he sees in coordinating the total program of By-la- and special Extended Care. The purpose for which the facility is established is to provide primarily to who are not in need ot total acute care hospital procedures Si Tied nursing care and related services requiring some medical and nursing supervision and rehabilitation services to assist the injured and disabled or sick person to return to his normal daily functions. All types and age groups of patients are eligible for admission except the acutely ill with demanding medical remore quirements properly needing care in the acute beds of a hospital. Patients who might appropriately be admitted are such patients as one who has asa potentially thma or congestive heart failure; a patient who has a potentially progressive disease who needs observation or supervision in order to adjust to self care; the patient with a static handicap as resulting from a stroke; or, the patient whose convalescence is prolonged for a variety of reasons such as poor nutritional state, post coronary care, etc. The Committee, as well as the entire staff of the Facility, are planning and looking forward to be of service to the citizens of our communities in giving this specialized type post hospital observation and rehabilitation services. Admissions' to the Facility are made by one of the 16 excellent physicians on the Hospital Staff after he makes a careful review and decision of the total needs of the patient. The Extneded Care Facility has been licensed and certified by the Utah State Division of Health and the United States Public Health Service Medicare Program. E. Thursday, April 25, 1968 Jacquez Your Marine Private Joseph E. Jacquez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe D. Jacquez of 149 E. First N., Santaquin, Utah, completed two weeks of training under simulated combat conditions in the fundamentals of day and night patroling, employment rf surviva1 infantry weapons, methods and assault tactics at this Marine Corps base. This individual combat training is given every Marine after his graduation from recruit train-inTaught by combat experienced officers of the infantry training regiment here, it prepares the young Leatherneck to become part of the Marine combat team. While in the field he was taught how to use hand grenades a compass and the principles of map reading and land navigation. He learned how to detect and disarm mines and booby traps and, while being exposed to live machine gun fire, he learned to advance safely from one point to another. From this course, he is scheduled to go on to more advanced training before being assigned to his permanent unit. Pharmacist g. Youd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Youd of Route 1, Payson, Utah was graduated from eight weeks of recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot here. He will now undergo from two to four weeks of individual combat training and then, after leave at home, will report to his first Marine Corps assignment. The intensified Marine recruit training emphasizes rigid physical conditioning and survival techniques, both at sea and ashore, to develop and endurance. Marksrifle and manship with the M-pistol are equally stressed, and close order drill instills the traditions of Marine Corps teamwork. Mr. Partridge has contacted the Beautification Committee and asked that the city remove some old tree stumps at the front of the property and assist with some of the clean up near the street, after which he will paint the home and try to improve the situation. Number 4 is an old house and chicken coops at 4th North 6th East, owned by Fred Robertson. Mr. Robertson has offered to tear the home and chicken coops down during the summer. Number 5 is an old home and chicken coops at 117 East 4th North. Mr. James Bianin of Lake Shore has reported he has permission to remove the old home and coops in the near future. Number 9 is an old cement shack and sheds at 2nd North 9th East, owned by Derwin Francom. Mr. Francom has reported his intention to remove all the old buildings from the property soon. Ten at a time they go and with each one Payson takes on a new look. Attitudes such as these displayed by owners of the Ten Wanted properties will surely help Payson to grow and prosper. Each citizen should follow their example, take a good look, with renewed vision, at their own back yards and do something to make Pay-smore beautiful. Thompson Jr., 21, whose parents live at 460 Lark Ave., Santaquin, Utah, completed eight weeks of advanced artillery training April 12 at the Army Artillery and Missile School, Ft. Sill Okla. He was trained as a cannoneer in field artillery. His training included maintenance and firing of artillery howitzers and heavy guns, machineguns. Instruction was also given in ammunition handling and communications. In order to manage this area properly, a good grass cover must be established in the campground. Grass planted last fall is coming very good now and if given a chance to become established, it will be much nicer for later this summer.
