The girls have been accepted to the BYU for the fall term and were here making arrangements for a place to live. They will he sophomores and have been attending Orange Coast College. The Salem Lions Club is sponsoring a Clean Up' Day around the Salem Lake and Park on Sat. April 20. Everyone is invited to participate in the project. Everyone has heard of the teenage gangs of New York and Chicago, notorious for their harassment of police and gang wars among themselves. This period of rioting and confusion would seemingly have been an excellent time for these hoodlums to cfeate a little confusion of their own. Yet when the chips were down these boys came through and lent a hand, when they could have greatly hindered the work of those trying to help. In Chicago as in many other of our larger cities burning, looting, and killing seemed to be the popular activity for the weekend. The National Guard and regular Army troops were brought in to aide local authorities. Fire departments were on the job constantly. All in all, the law enforcement agencies had their hands full. Suddenly the impossible happened, two of these rough gangs offered to help the police. Kids who knew the police only as The Fuzz, were now side by side with possibly the same cops who had previously run them in. The club met at their club house and Lion Grosjean stated that the Salem Club ihas the honor of selecting a boy from 17 to 19 years of age, and sending him to 'Lions Youth Congress to represent the state of Utah. This meeting will be held in Texas during the month of June.Salem club won this recognition by having the largest percentage of new members during the past year.
