Show KILLED IN ACCIDENT thursday afternoon about one 0 clock mr henry gaker baker of corinno corinne lost his life in an accident that occurred on the turnpike about half a m mile to north ot of the bridge at the bo bottom atom of 0 the watery lane mr baker dal who is reported to be 87 years ol of I 1 ag age e and very hard of hearing was dri driving 1 homo home from tills this city where lie he had been attending to some matters of 01 business and at the point mentioned he turned out to pass another vehicle mr george tiller of this city was driving south in an automobile and lie he came up with the two outfits as they were passing and slowed down in order not to run into them As mr baker turned back into the road and faced the oncoming automobile he either pot got bewildered or else did not notice tho the machine for the horse was driven directly in lovirt of the car mr tiller applied the brakes and stopped just na jas the auto came up to the horse and the sudden stop of tho the rig pitched the old gentleman out of tile the buggy alight nig on his head with the result that his neck was broken mr tiller assisted by the occupants of the other vehicle gathered up the he aped aged man placed him in the automobile and brought him on to this fly cily as quickly as possible ile he was lakeri to the brigham hospital but was dead drs pearse and henderson enderson II a post mortem examination on body and determined that death resulted from a broken neck and doubr lees ices was instantaneous justice figgins impanel led a coroners jury consisting of alvin ilien william balckmore and david 11 II ros res cabourn and accompanied by county attorney W J lowe and sheriff J 11 IL zundel viewed the remains in the file hospital and listened to the testimony of the physicians other witnesses were listened to and the lury jury drouant in a verdict that the deceased came to his death as stated above and that the circumstances were purely accidental mr baker leaves a wife son and daughter residing at corinne and a num numbers berof 0 other back in illinois ile he was a very quiet old gentleman who seemed amply able to take care of himself despite his advanced years the remains were turned over to tile brohl undertaking co and prepared for interment |
