Show Tha Payson Chronicle, Payson, Utah THURSDAY, DECEMBER holds annual Christmas Party The Cultus Club held its annual Christmas party Wed. afternoon at the home of Della Cbatwin. Nadine Brown was master of ceremonies and she read a poem on Christmas after which she introduced a group of women, Gloria Barnett, Karma Whitelock, Gwen Harmer and Erma Meason, who presented a season program in song and Carol Huber has arrived to spend Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Huber in Payson. Carol is enrolled as a graduate student at Cornell University, Ithica, New York. skit. Arlene Provstgaard was their accompanist. Later, Nada Jacobsen of Provo, read a story, A Certain Star, by Pearl Buck. Refreshments were served by the social committee including Alta Cowan, Edna Twede, Della Chatwin and Nadine Brown. Guests cluded members of her bridge club, with places arranged for a dozen ladies. Gifts were exchanged at the close of the bridge games. Mr. and Mrs. Douglass Clark of Ogden are parents of a new baby girl, born Nov. 23, at Ogden. The new arrival, who weighed in at five pounds, 2 ounces, has a sister, Janna Dee, and a brother Allen. Mrs. Clark is the former Deanna Ellsworth of Payson. Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Ellsworth, visited recently in Ogden, Mrs. Ellsworth helping out with the new arrival during the past two weeks. Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. Ed. Clark of Spanish Fork. Brown Family holds Cultus Club VALUES Jeanne Bascom, Larry Griffith feted at Spring Lake wedding reception 12 PRICE On November 25, at the Spring Lake Ward Chapel, Miss Jeanne Bascom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Bascom was given in marriage by her father to son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Griffith of Spring Lake, Utah. High .School 1965 in and then went on to attend one year of college at Rexburg, Idaho. Joanne and her parents moved from Rupert in April of this year to Spring Lake, where she has been employed with the Payson City hospital since. The groom has attended Pay-so- n High School and later com- pleted his schooling while in the Army. He is now employed with the Union Pacific Rail Road in Salt Lake City. The brides dress was a floor length white lace set off by tiny pearls and beads around the neckline. The two bridesmaids; Miss Jerry Ann Bascom, sister of the bride, and Miss Sylvia West wore pale yellow floor length dresses also trimmed in white lace. The best man was Marty Ewell from Payson and the two ushers were Robert Bascom, brother of the bride, and Calvin to the Gleaves, brother-in-la- w Groom. The couple is now residing in Salt Lake City. r BEST VALUES The American Legion Auxiliary held its annual Christmas party and gift exchange Tuesday at the Legion Hall. A lovely Christmas decor for tables and hall was highlighted with a lighted tree. Games were played. Special guests were the district president, Hazel Roylance of Springville, and district first vice president, Vione Reece, Payson. Mona Hall was general chairman assisted by Betty Llewelyn. The food committee ink. cluded Uris Reif, Pansy Sylvia Balzey, Elizabeth Montague, Afton Oborn, Nola Chappel and Elaine Davis. Wil-coc- Frank and Madge Stevens Ball of Ventura, Calif., spent a few days last week in Payson with her sister and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stevens. They also visited in Eureka with Mr. Balls mother, who returned to California with them. Xhe noble woman does not find in her path; she roses leaves them there. DOORS OPEN AT The Sam Elton families held their Christmas party at a Cafe in Salt Lake last Saturday. There were about 50 who attended from Dugway, Tooele, Provo, Genola Goshen and Salt Lake. Gifts were exchanged. P.F.C. Dale Oberg returned home last week to spend the Christmas Holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oberg. CAMP SEAGULL Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Seagull, held its Christmas social and routine meeting Thursday afternoon at the home of Gloria Barnett, captain, who conducted the event. A feature of the afternoon was presentation of a book, Pioneer Heretage, volume 9, to Susan Ashby, who recently concluded four years as captain of the Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Thomas and Mrs. Lucille Thomas visited in Salt Lake last Thurs. Grandma Ewell gave all the grandchildren gifts she had made. There were about 75 who attended from Las Vegas Nev., Spanish Fork Payson, Koosharem, and Genola.
