In YWMIA volleyball tournament play for the Bee Hive group, the Genola Ward girls were declared undefeated champions last Thursday when they defeated Goshen by a 2 point lead in a two out of three competition play. The Genola Bee Hive team players are DeAnn and Carolyn Davis, Paula and Karen Throckmorton, Julie partners as guests to be held Saturday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the Stake Center. It is to be a special kick-o- ff Superintendent assisted in planning Elders social Quorum of planning a special on YWMIA Branch., They say that it is a very worthwhile event why not support these fine youth. A special put film, Be Ye Prepared, out by the general Sunday School Board for Sunday School teaching, will be shown in Sunday School Preparation Meeting on April 4, and all Sunday School workers are urged to be there. New additions to the Stake Sunday School Board are Sister Nellie Veenendall, for Course 1; Sister Leah Boswell, Course 2; and Sister Lucille Wall, Course 8. Dear to The M.I.A. Stake for Mia held Heart My evening Maids and their mothers was enjoyed by appreximately 90 on March 8. The inspirational event, held at the Stake Center, featured a theme, Within the Bounds the Lord has Set with a special guest speaker, Sister Marie Widdison of Payson emphasizing the importance of closeness of mother and daughter to bring about the perfection standards that the Lord requires. Preliminary music was by Linda Hansen of Goshen; song by assembled group, More Holiness Give Me;" the Symbolism of the Rose, by Pauline Hansen, Elberta; Tribute to my Mother, by DeLee Penrod of Genola; with Tribute to Mia Maids given by her mother, LaVern Penrod. A girls quartet of First and Second Wards, DeAnn Olsen, Vickie Kaletta, Ruth Lee Wall, and Ann Tischner, sang Dear to benediction was by My Heart; Carol Jolley of Elberta. The symbolism of the rose was featured on a special table and also was carried out in the refreshments. Miss June Heelis is Stake Mia Maid leader who conducted the event and gave Presidency with Sister Isabel Draper as president, Sister Dorothy Jasperson, first counselor, now includes Sister Barbara Jensen, as second counselor (recently sustained). Sister Elna Bird was resustained as secretary. The new board is as follows: Sister Arlene Horton, music, and Bethea Wolf, scouting. The new teacher had not been sustained as yet, as this column was in the writing. These leaders, along with ward Primary leaders, will attend a special visual aids meeting with leaders from Juab and Nebo Stakes this morning and afternoon. Sister Agrmoine Jex, who has been set apart in a special calling to display visual aids for Primary, will give the special presentation and demonstration on all visual aids for all Primary classes. Tonight, March 17, is a Scouting Court of Honor to be held at Genola Ward at 8 p.m. .with Genola Ward to be in charge of the stake event. Scouts and Explorers and leaders will be present to receive badges and awards from Scout Executive Henry Roberts. On April 2 a Scout is being planned at the BYU Field House from 5 to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend and see the wonderful Scout skills demonstrated and displayed. Our Stake will have a other General Authorities, to continue on and complete eight more sheets of genealogy (our r F yet somehow, spring would seem to be an ideal time to determine te change. It certainly is a time of new and perfect beginnings new life and growth sharp, dlean air and challenges to bodies, mjnds and winter-tire- d bringing oh, so many plans for an active spring and summer. Thus, it would seem that the perfect time for growth, advancement and change, need not be a set hour or season; it surely must be when our hearts are ready and needing change. to do our Jobs . Resolutions better, to grow mentally, physically and spiritually, should come with any season any hour. FIRST WARD NEWS: Margaret Bylund assisting The Farewell Testimonial for Elder Eddie Neff, son of Brother and Sister Alden Neff, was held Sunday evening, Mar. 13, prior to his departure to the Mission Home in Salt Lake, and the North Central States Mission Field of labor. Speakers were Bernell Evans, a former teacher; Bishop L. W. Clayson, parents of the missionary and Elder Neff. Cousins of Eddie, Jay Bradley, accompanied by his sister Marilyn, sang I Am A Mormon Boy; Prayers were by Peter Heelis and Tom Hudson, and prelude and post-lumusic by Robert Lofgran. Tonight, March 17, our YWMIA volleyball team will compete with Genola at Genola (and all ward members are invited to come out and support them. A prominent ward member, Brother Andrew Borgeson, passed away on March 12 following surgery, complicated by pneumonia. Bishop Evelyn Kirk was recognized in Sacrament Meeting Sunday and was presented with an award for his contribution through the years to the annual Scout banquet. Rampton presents first official Utah Industrial Prospector certificate to former Utahn, Lewis M. Jones. Industrial Commission Awards First "Prospectors" Certificate Governor Calvin L. Rampton recently commissioned Lewis M. Jones of Los Angeles as the first Utah Industrial Prospector. In a ceremony in the Governors office, Mr. Jones received an official "prospectors certificate bearing the Governors signature and the state seal, authorizing him to work with the Utah Industrial Promotion Commission to seek out new industry to come to Utah. These certificates will be awarded to several hundred carefully selected carefully selected who have an interest in and a loyalty to the state and who express a willingness to cooperate in the industrial promotion program, according to Milton L. Weilenmann, director of the Utah Industrial Promotion Commission, who is instigating the program. Those selected for the prospector commission are in the main outstanding industrial, educational, civic, or government leaders who will be in position to suggest and recommend that Utah be considered in future industrial building or expansion programs in the West. The mother is the former Lynnell Stewart of Payson. Father of the newborn is a teacher in a Provo junior high school.
