In a world of many choices, you have no choice about water. You must have it. Water is the necessity of the hour and of the ages. The above is a quote from the National Association of Conservation Districts Tuesday Letter. Are we, in the Nebo Soil Conservation District, doing our part in conserving our water supply? Pressures for more efficient use of all water will get greater as the years go along and our population grows larger, our demands for industry continue to grow and demands for food production on the land get heavier. Thomas Jefferson once said, he who stops the greatest number of gullies is the greatest hero. Perhaps this should be paraphrazed to read, he who saves the most water for constructive uses is the greatest patriot. Lets each of us in the Nebo SCD look to our own weapons in the fight for high quality usable water. In the middle east the writer has seen women out in the street dipping up water from little puddles following a rain: this for culinary use. May we never reach that point in our lives here in America. The Soil Conservation Service is taking a most active part and an aggresive stand in this fight for proper use of water. This is a national campaign. President Johnson is spearheading the drive by giving ar, directive to make low cost fresh water from seawater.: patent will not affect the present owners title to the lands. J. E.
