Wilson and his son, Shirl Wilson, won reserve regional championship honors in the Great Plains Arabian Association Regional Championship Shew held recently at Estes Park, Colo. The Wilsons took two horses to the show, and a son of Sir Knight placed third in an open class for yearlings colts. Carroll Wilson, who has stabled Arabian horses fur several years, states that Sir Knight has won more championships than any other horse he has heard of, winning both in Canadian and United States shows in the six years since his birth. Govt Richard Lee Openshaw has been chosen to represent the Payson Jr. High at the Red Cross school at Utah State University for the week August 2 to 8. Richard is the son of Mrs. Della Openshaw of this city. Senior Citizen Day is Successful, Chairmen Say Thanks Ralph and Mamie Chappie, chairmen of the Nebo Stake Senior Citizen Day, expressed their appreciation to all who assisted to make the annual day a success. Benjamin, Lake Shore Schools to Remain Open The Board of Education of School District met in regular session in the District Office in Spanish Fork, Utah on Monday, July 13. President S. Roland Lindsay was in charge of the meeting. Roll call showed all members present. Superintendent Russell N. and the Clerk, Clarence J. President Lindsay opened the bids for cleaning, oiling and adjusting typewriters in the school District for the 1964-6year and asked the Clerk to read them. A motion was made by Kester, seconded by Dr. William H. Sorensen, that the bid as submitted by Lloyds Typewriter Company of Provo be awarded by the Board with the understanding that services must meet Board standards for promptness as well as quality of service. Motion unanimous. A committee of citizens from the Benjamin and Lake Shore School areas waited on the Board of Education. James W. Bingham acted as spokesman for the group and requested that the Board of Education do whatever was necessary to keep both the Benjamin and Lake Shore Schools open to the children of the two areas. Other members of the committee also expressed their 5 Q desire for the Board to keep the two schools operating, stating that even though it was within the prerogative of the Board to close the schools, it was their opinion that the children of that area would be better served if the schools were to be kept open. President Lindsay thanked the committee and stated that the request would be given due consideration by the Board. After considering all aspects of the problem of further consolidation for the Benjamin and Lake Shore Schools, a motion was made by Dr. William H. Sorensen, seconded by Alfonzo Kester, that the Board operate the two schools on a year-t- o year basis with a view to further consolidation as conditions warrant with the only object in mind of providing the best educational program for the children of the area. Motion unanimous. Superintendent Stansfield reported that he had received a new schedule of dues to be paid to the Utah School Boards Association. The annual dues schedule as sent ten the Board of Education was accepted for the current 1964-6-5 fiscal year only, and authorization was given to pay the dues according to the new schedule. President Lindsay opened the typewriter exchange bids for machines to be used in the typing classes in the senior and junior high schools A motion was made by Dr. William H. Sorensen, seconded by Alfonzo Kester, that the Board accept the low bid on a three year lease agreement as submitted by Lloyds Typewriter Company to furnish 85 new Adler typewriters includservice guaring a three-yea- r antee for a three-yea- r period for a total of $4,010.00 with the option to purchase the machines by the Board for $35.00 each at the end of the lease period. Mr. and Mrs. John Daniels and Mrs. Darrel Brown went on to Macks Inn where they were guests at the summer home of Mrs. Lynn Taylor a sister-in-laof Mrs. Brown. On Monday morning they left there and went through the Hebgen earthquake area and Montana. They went on into Canada where they visited the Cardston Temple and attended a session before continuing a tour of the country. They returned to their home - w Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Miller visited in Idaho going up the Salmon River and then back Jhome through Wyoming. Former Residents cf Payson Win Trailer Court Contest Mr. and Mrs. Harley Thomas won first place in the trailer court inspection competition in Dugway, July 10. Their trailer, Lot C-was judged to be the most attractive and well kept site m the Fox area court. Also 18 ether trailer sites were cited for exceptional maintenance of government 2, property. Col. John D. Service conducted the inspection of the sites. The winning lot is surrounded by a neat white fence, bordered with flowers, covered with rich green grass and has three trees. Mr. Thomas said that when he obtained the lot it was a pile of gravel..
