The film showing will cover both phases of the John L. Cross Expedition in it adventures through the previously unexplored Barranca del Cobre or Canyon of Copper. Although Mexicans have been mining copper from a rich vein at the bottom of the canyon for nearly 300 years, the ores were brought almost straight up the canyon wall on steep trails and there are no records of anyone having previously traversed the full length of the canyon bottoms, reported to be some 7000 ft. deep at the point of termination of the exploration. In addition to the scenery, geology and natural history of the area, consideration is given to the life and basic traits of the Tarahumara Indians who inhabit the Barrancas. Numbering 50,000, the Cross Expedition found many of them living as isolated families along the bottoms of the and cliff canyon, in cave dwellings The presentation is being sponsored by the Boy Scouts. Tickets are available at Daniels Drug. Tickets also may be purchased at the door.
