In the Relief Society Ruth Draper was sustained as Pres, with Zatelle Spotten and Beth Thomas, counselors and Zada Livingston as secretary. Leadership awards were presented as follows: Caroline Throckmorton, 1 year; Darlene Nelson, 6 6, years. Lucille Thomas, Thelma Nelson, 2. Individual awards were presented to Sheila Barney, 100 one year; Connie Spotten and Jan Kire one year and by 100 Ewell 2 year. Each one of us should be planning our next years work: our fertilizer programs, the irrigation system changes which we should make; figuring out our cropping program, what we are going to raise and where; what we will do with that piece which is too wet to raise a good crop of beets: drain it, plant it to a water tolerant grass and so on. Now is the time to plan for next years operation. The Soil Conservation Service technicians are ready to help you do your planning. Give them a ring. He represented Utah in the National competition, and did so very creditably. Marion raises some of the best cattle and crops in the area and is admirably suited to take his place on the board of supervisors. He brings a wealth of young ideas and an energetic personality to go with them. He does a good job of representing the people of his community. The United States Department of Agriculture has assigned to the Soil Conservation Service the responsibility of making a national Soil Survey: known as the Standard Soil Survey. This inventory of our soil resources has been started in Utah County. It began a year ago in the Lehi area, in the Alpine SCD by a group of SCS soil Scientists. It has progressed east and south around Utah Lake and is currently working in the we do so? Provo area. Here in Utah, there are hundreds and hundreds of men, women and children who help spread the warm, friendly spirit of Christmas to thousands of their neighbors.
